What's new

JF-17B Updates, News & Discussion

Sir, full FBW would need more room for the interconnections, sensors etc. Also, with augmented stability in roll and yaw, Block 1/2 shouldn't need full FBW. What's special about 229? Can you please give more details?
nothing special ... it just got IFR probe ... & it was built in China in 2015 so they must have tested upgrades available at that time without disturbing the existing production line

It shouldn't matter if the Block-II doesn't have FBW. Ultimately, the Block-I and Block-II were meant to provide critical capabilities to the fleet (e.g. BVR, AShW, etc) as soon as possible and at as low a cost as possible. They've effectively replaced the A-5s and F-7Ps, which is very important.

The PAF seems to have pushed a lot of advancements to the Block-III, which is going to reinforce the capability element as well as give the fleet a new high-technology (e.g. AESA, hopefully HMD/S, hopefully digital FBW, etc) fighter. At this stage, I hope we see a new engine too, be it WS-13E or RD-33MK (or RD-93MA).

IFR plumbing is done with. It is just plug-n-play. No big deal. @Blacklight

Should not discern everything from picutres alone, Pak friends.

JF17B is bringing BlockIII one step closer... and it is mostly internal.

Allow Time to resolve mysteries.

Regardless, what Pak enthusiasts think about the 'beauty' of JF17B... the aircraft is brilliant in its simplicity and functionality. That is only thing that matters... no point having non-functional, expensive crafts when they can't do the job.

Wait for NGF and 5th FA to have the beauty part taken care of.

I still find this little bird to be rather elegant!

Thanks, I don't see IFR, may be its not meant for prototype!
Maybe PT-02 / 03 will have it. JF-17b without it would be a serious disappointment.

It have the IFR capability, its was just not attached in its first flight & as we know IFR in JF-17 is designed in PnP mode

One seldom sees JF-17 flying with a single drop tank, the cameraman has also deliberately slowed the picture to make a point, what you guys make of it. It certainly seems longer than a drop tank.

Sir jee Simple drop tank hai ...

FC1 has reached its projected & proposed development with Ver B. Collaboration has been long standing spread over four decades+ now. It is time to kickstart fab-tech AeSp backbone @ home. Our input now extends into their FGF prog.
@Bilal Khan 777 @messiach - your input would be highly appreciated here.
