What's new

JF-17 Thunder variant may be popular among developing nations

Because we were not ready to take orders and the Block-1 was under weapons testing and integration.

Customers want latest avionics,IFR, new weapons and other features. Block-2 meets the export requirements.

JF-17 is bound to become an export success with Block-2 meeting the needs outlined to us by the potential customers, during negotiations.

Fine, but still assuming and if so on.. may be next time we will heart JF-17 Block !!! is good for market potential....
or
May be they are going to purchase FC-1 from China.

So whatever any order will receive than that time will be celebration time..... just 2 cent.... By the way Best of Luck

A mismanaged project is always more expensive.

While LCA enters in small numbers into pre-operational level on just IR WVR missile and some dumb a2g bombs and LGB with Integration of Cobham probe complete, also in IOC 2 it officially certified basic EWS unlike the JG17 moves away into another level with high tech avionic, links, BVR and IFR which even after operation since 2006 and around 50 jets in inventory.

The reason that it is cheaper... It gets technology transfer from J10 and even J20...
Correction above
Also by end of next year
The Tejas has been designed as a multi-role fighter. It can engage enemy aircraft with the R-73 short-range air-to-air missile (SRAAM); by FOC next year, more potent air-to-air missiles, probably the Israeli Derby and Python, would be integrated. Against ground targets, the Tejas carries conventional and laser-guided bombs. Next year, it will have an integral 23 millimetre Gasha cannon and in flight refueling.
In short ,
Well, here's the 12 month to-do list:

1. Expand flight envelope to -3.5 to 8G (Currently -2 to 6G).
2. 24° angle of attack (Currently 22°).Though it already shown 24° still need to be tested again for certification
3. In-flight refueling capability (Integration of Cobham probe completed). So is Jf17
4. Demonstration of Rafael ADS Derby BVR air-to-air missile.so is Jf 17
5. Demonstration of Rafael ADS Python-5 IIR close combat missile . Jf 17 still don't have CCM next gen missile as such
6. Completion of integration & demonstration of KBP Gryazev-Shipunov GSh-23 23mm cannon.
7. New design drop tanks for supersonic flight.
8. New radome to improve radar and electromagnetic performance.New radome already developed need integration
9. Validate more efficient cooling system for aircraft braking assembly.
10. Additional weapons testing, including PGMs. More likely Kh-59ME,Kh-59MK active radar homing anti-ship missile,Kh-35U,Kh-31P/A anti-radar missile and S 8 and S 11 rocket pods

so It'll takes 1-2 yr more to finally integrate BVR and IFR that mean Jf 17 yet to receive FOC. Happy trolling :enjoy:

It took India three decades to get less then F16A or Mirage2000H. What makes anyone so sure they will acieve this "to do" list? I rest my case.

We have a joint marketing, sales and profit sharing with China.

Pakistan will remain the only country to produce the jet unless we get a big order.

JFT has an open architecture so any weapons, radar, avionics can be integrated as per customer's request.

FC-1 Is just a designation. Chia isn't producing it.

We can cater for training and infrastructure for the customers. Pilots to ground crew and flight maintance.

Lastly, only us have the 'tactics', so we would be training foreign pilots from the friendly states.

Thanks for good wishes.

This is where JF17 exports may fall down.

Adding western weapons radars to Thunder is going to be very difficult and very expensive.
Without the cooperation of the said nation be it France USA russia or Israel this wil be too expensive and too long winded for a potential buyer.

Or are you expecting the customer to go and intergrate these themselves which will alsdo be a headache.

As it stands Thunder will be sold Russian engines, chinease weapons and avionics /radars.

China long standing export client bank is the best realistic option for Thunder export in the future.

Military sales is often massively linked to poltical/dilomatic relations .

For example
UAE have strong french relations so they will buy Rafale sooner or later
Saudi have strong british & usa relations = Typhoon /F15 stealth
India= Russia & Israel su30mki/phalcon awacs
North Korea veitnam & bangladesh = China and J10 0r FC1

Which countries have great diplomatic relations and untmost trust this is your market for thunder

Depends on what the customer desires. Costs will go up and down accordingly.

If a customer wants to integrate an open market system, we can do it for them.

We have multiple weapons options, which can be integrated according to customer's request.

Costs will be accordingly.

Aeronaut,

How can Pakistan intergate a Usa Weapons on Thunder.

You will passing on Chinease codes and avionics to USA Companies and vice versa. The chinease would never allow this.

If this was possible surely PAF would have added Amraam to thunder

European weapons you tried but the French COST was so horrendus PAF walked away and this was for PAF itself.

The sort of nations that Thunder may be sold ie Bangladesh North Korea will not be able to afford the cost of mix and match what we like its very complex and very long winded.

The only reason countries like india can mix match israeli and french & russian hardware is cause they have long very established relations with all these nations and they have the money to pay for the work.

If you sell thunder it will have the same Arsenal as PAF ..ALMOST CERTAIN.

The purchaser may then contact Usa France Israel themselves but its impossible for you guys to add a israeli python 5 yourselves or a APG63 radar to thunder by yourself.
