Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is set to expand its flight operations by launching six new routes starting in January 2025. This expansion aims to enhance connectivity both domestically and internationally, particularly focusing on the Middle East. Here are the key details:

New Routes Overview

  1. International Routes:
    • Sialkot to Bahrain: Twice-weekly flights starting January 20, 2025.
    • Faisalabad to Jeddah: Weekly service commencing January 20, 2025.
    • Lahore to Dammam: Twice-weekly flights beginning January 22, 2025.
    • Lahore to Kuwait: Weekly service launching January 25, 2025.
    • Sialkot to Doha: Weekly flights starting January 21, 2025.
  2. Domestic Route:
    • Karachi to Peshawar: New weekly service set to begin on January 25, 2025.

Strategic Goals

  • The expansion is part of PIA's strategy to strengthen its presence in the Gulf region and cater to the growing demand for travel between Pakistan and these destinations. The new routes will utilize PIA's Boeing 777 and Airbus A320 aircraft.

Fleet and Operations

  • To support this growth, PIA has reactivated several aircraft, increasing its operational fleet from 16 to 19 aircraft, with plans to expand further to 24 aircraft within six months. This fleet enhancement comes as PIA resumes services to Europe and the UK after meeting safety requirements set by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

Conclusion

The introduction of these new routes marks a significant step in PIA's efforts to revitalize its operations and improve connectivity for travelers. With a focus on both domestic and international markets, PIA aims to reclaim its position as a leading airline in the region while addressing the needs of passengers seeking reliable air travel options.
