JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 7]

Hi,

Need a COMPLIMENTARY BVR TRUCK to carry a load of those heavy BVR missiles---be 'networked' with leading aircraft and the leading aircraft or the awacs can lock and launch the missiles---.

Not the JH-7 again, you are stirring up the hornets nest. o_O

There are better alternatives.

What better alternates that are available to PAF or the ones that PAF can afford ? I am no fan of JF-7s, I am of firm believer that time of its induction into PAF has long past gone, but am still interested to learn which platform can deliver what JH-7 could / can for PAF ?

The Mirage's in service currently.

Mirage payload and combat radius are extremely poor compare to JH-7A. The nose cone of JH-7A are far bigger to house a capable multi purpose radar.

At least JH-7 uses a turbofan and has a huge airframe to accomodate plenty of fuel. Plus the twin turbofan still gives JH-7 decent thrust of more than 20000kg thrust with afterburner.

AESA Radar, TFR, Better Payload, More Loiter Time are just few things which comes to my mind in favor of JH-7A

Yeh but bear in mind, Mirage's are cruise missile slingers, they also have the support of AAR assets. Also, with one Raad alcm and two bags, the Mirage should have a combat radius of like 1250km. In terms of Radar, realistically, you don't really need a massive powerful radar for the role the Mirage's conduct. If you desperately wanted one, you could fit a smaller AESA like the Israeli's have done on aircraft with smaller radomes. In terms of payload type, its comparable to the JF-17. In short, what i am trying to say is, the cost of inducting this type would not be worth it in light of the fact that other aircraft in the PAF's fleet can do the job just as well. At the end of the day if we are talking hypotheticals, the best deep strike asset would be something like a B2 or a SU34 lol, maybe even a sino flanker, however, this is hypotheticals and pointless to talk about. We can sit here and talk about how X is better than Y, however, it wont make a difference since the PAF doesn't rely on internet forums to influence their procurement options. Also, the JH-7 does not carry an AESA??

Only 1/3rd capability or even less.

Hi,

Name one---and please also give explanation as well.

Come on ... you know exactly all reasons, why such an option for the PAF is unlikely and to tell it mildly nothing but a wet-dream, You only - as expected - still don't want to listen nor even argue, but in case you forgot these explanations and reasons, here again:

1. The JH-7A is out of production for long, it is a dated system and all these JH-7E proposals are airshow proposals, nothing more.

2. IMO it is unlikely that the PLAAF would transfer its own JH-7As to the PAF and even more - since it is in fact already dated - that Pakistan would accept it due to two additional reasons:

3. IF - and IMO this IF is a huge one - the PAF would decide on them, they would need a comprehensive MLU-program, maybe to JH-7B standard, which itself was also abandoned and ..

4. such a huge striker, regardless how useful it indeed might be - would require a a completely new strain of maintenance adding yet another money that could be spend much better for a new multirole type.

... but please not again with the same lame old them" You are not allowed to post such stuff since you are not from the military, not from Pakistan and by the way, Pakistan can get whatever it wants for free from China"! This is a theme no-one but you believes.

PNs new LRMP project is customized and can carry antiship missiles of our choice, it is what we are going for. If ever a fighter needed as missile truck J-16 and J-10 are better options than JH-7, when you buy a new platform should consider that it should be something that could be operational and continuously upgradable for at least 30yrs of service, not something that is out of production and in its final variant. Lets keep the topic to JF-17 only.

J-16 is not available so far, so why throw that as an example ? J-10 can't carry the load of JH-7 so again not a good example even though it is available to PAF. LRPM may not be able to carry the load of JH-7s and will be slower and far less nimble then the JH-7, we will have to wait and see what upgrades the LRMP gets, how many hardpoints and at what ratings.

Point is that there is not much out there for PAF ( available or affordable ) that does what JH-7 can, so your statement of " There are better alternatives. " is a fallacy itself.

PS: Not advocating that PAF should run out and pick-up bag loads of JH-7s if available.

Hi,

Whe you utter the words---" it is out of production "---it tells me that you are clueless about about WEAPONS world.

Do you know how long ago the Mirage 3 / 5 production stopped. But has that stopped Paf for buying more of them.

Paf is desperately seeking egyptian mirages right now---.

Do you know how long ago the F14 stopped its production a but the iranians are flying them.

If the US had not intentionally destroyed all the F14 aircrafts and their parts a decade ago and allowed iran to procure them---there would not be too many fighter aircraft competing with that machine as of now---. Even in that state of lack of parts---some that are flyable are stll the most deadly aircraft in the arena---.

Son---every weapons system has a form and function---. For some the utility lasts a few years---the others endure decades of service---.

Hi,

You are again in error---. When you buy a weapon---you buy it for the sake what it is going to do for you tomorrow and not after 30 years---.

Youngman---does no one teaches about wars and being prepared for wars---. You train and prepare a soldier and his machine to fight a war tomorrow not for a war after 30 years---.
