ITR is a fancy term, a theoratical calculation. Its a position that an airworthy platform assumes where it looses speed, altitude, attitude & corrective adjustment or marginal adjustment. STR is opposite where you assume a new position remainig within the flight envelope without loss of speed, alt&att. Trying with ITR is like playing with fire without a fire protection. Never advise in combat.

Probably @TaimiKhan is talking about observing something similar to the following:

17 seconds onwards, the engine is probably at idle and full air brakes deployed...just guessing, the experts know better.

Air combat is about gambits. You take .chances. If ITR surprises the bogey on your six, ITR can save your life. If ITR brings you into the sweet spot for taking the shot, ITR will make your day. Delta's are well known for quick, high angle ITR which makes keeping at their six very impractical. There is a Greek DACT video between viper and Mirage 2K where Viper keeps making the mistake of relying on STR. The alti and speed lost in ITR can be regained.

All modern fighters incld. falcon, FC1, rafael have builtin FCR in FE to prohibit ITR.
