. Due to quality of picture 80% chances are of ASELPOD Pod while 20% are WMD-7 Targeting Pod. Both TPs are in Service with Thunder
Based on the open source data, Link-16 transmission rate is 1 Mbps. Not enough to beam Live video back to ground station via Link-16
There is a reason Pakistan bought Data linked Sniper Pods back in 2014-15 capable of transmitting the the video in real time directly to groundstation. PAF F-16 Link-16 can handle data and voice but transmitting a video in real time? It doesnt.
Based on the size and the make of SDR Pakistan is using in JF-17 and mirages and F-7pgs and since Link-17 is base on the Link-16 and Link-22, Those SDR and TDL would mostly have 1-2 Mbps transmission rate as well.
The question is, Is Link-17 Capable of transmitting video feeds back to Ground station? @SQ8 worked on Link-17 a decade or so. The Voice and Data it can transmit in encrypted form. The video feed? Not so much.
I think its still a guess here on either our parts. Size has less to do with capability of electronic hardware. Perhaps Oscar could give us his estimate.
If a smartphone can do it with a cell tower, I don't see the technical difficulty here.
Insurgents Intercept Drone Video in King-Size Security Breach (Updated, with Video)
How’d the militants manage to get access to such secret data? Basically by pointing satellite dishes up, and waiting for the drone feeds to pour in. According to the Journal, militants have exploited a weakness: The data links between the drone and the ground control station were never encrypted. Which meant that pretty much anyone could tap into the overhead surveillance that many commanders feel is America’s most important advantage in its two wars. Pretty much anyone could intercept the feeds of the drones that are the focal point for the secret U.S. war in Pakistan.

A strange possiblity.A targeting POD for AAMs?
ECM Pod.
Shouldn't we have a dedicared pod thread?I must say that 1) that's an over kill but yeah depends upon scenario and separate mission profile and 2) the one on thunder seems to be different like tailor made having multirole capability absorbed in 1 small Pod. Just saying.
