The JF-17 can be used for aerial reconnaissance, ground attack and aircraft interception. Its designation "JF-17" by Pakistan is short for "Joint Fighter-17", while the designation and name "FC-1 Xiaolong" by China means "Fighter China-1 Fierce Dragon".
The JF-17 can deploy diverse ordnance, including air-to-air and air-to-surface missiles, and a 23 mm GSh-23-2 twin-barrel autocannon. Powered by a Guizhou WS-13 or Klimov RD-93 afterburning turbofan, it has a top speed of Mach 1.8
Talking about the effectiveness of JF-17 Thunder in mountainous areas, Lt General Tariq Khan said that it is a multi-purpose aircraft that can attack, defend, provide close support on the ground, provide combat air patrol and intercept.
Tariq Khan said that Pakistan exports JF-17 Thunder fighter jets to Sri Lanka, Nigeria and Myanmar. He said that every year the interest of countries to the JF-17 Thunder aircraft continues to grow.

@The Eagle No PL15. Indegenous alternative only in future.
We can refer a development from past 02.02.2018 as follows... to our indigenous BVR progress?
A JF-17 Thunder shot down a slow speed target with BVR (Beyond Visual Range) and IR (Infrared) air-to-air missile with pin point accuracy at a range near Karachi, the Pakistan Air Force said on Friday.
This is the seeker developed years ago.I did hint at that to @messiach you can clearly see quite a few civilians (including Chinese) in this video, but I dont understand why they would be needed/present if it was just a standard SD10 target practice
