we should not spend any more cash on integration of BVR weapons on these mirages.
their day has gone,
even the Mirage 2000's have had their day, let alone Mirage III/V

You read him wrong. The Mirages are already BVR integrated and hence should be counted in the total number of BVR capable birds that we have. This is what Dazzler was saying.

Senor,

The NOW threat is never ever over blown----look at china right now---it is pissing ice cubes right now----the NOW threat has them in a great concern----calm and docile neighbors have suddenly stood up----a weak enemy---india---suddenly is showing threat---offering weapons to mutual enemy openly----.
You should also keep in mind that in late ninetees and early 2000s this was the same China who was running a mass of Russian and old domestic weapons inventory. And despite everything, you have never seen Chinese adopting a conflicting or hard line policy against many of its regional foes. For example, when they forced landed the US spy plane, they demanded an apology and let go the plane (Though in parts-as a symbolic gesture). They had had skirmishes with Japanese but they never took it to a very high level. They had skirmishes with India but the issue was fairly contained. China's agenda to date is
1-Focus on economic transition
2-Build a soft diplomatic policy to keep hostalities at minimum
3-Build the military power in line with growing economic influence and resulting threats.
What you consider as Now problem are the fruits of a carefully and ingeniously developed and executed strategy by Chinese policymakers. China has the money and they are spending it to achieve their strategic objectives. Something you couldn't imagine China making notable effort of military modernization in early 2000s or 90s when they didn't have the economic wealth to do so.
On the surface it is okay---but inside china is in a panic---if it takes one enemy on---the others know that they have to join hands and strike at the same time. China does not have anything to counter all of them at the same time
Thats where diplomacy comes to help. Few would have noted that when there were hostilities during Chinese President's visit to India, the first thing Xi Jinping did after returning to China was a shuffle in military leadership. It was for sending two signals
1-To tell the military leadership who is the boss
2-To show the Indian counterparts that Chinese leadership is committed to a non-confrontation policy
This isn't the panic, but the wonders of money. The Chinese have the money and they are spending it as they see fit. And mind you, Chinese military modernization is still an on going process. Storages of PLA/PLAN and PLAAF are still filled with older weapons which need a replacement.

By the time the chain of event starts---it is years too late to have new procurement----. The last 20 plus years should have been an eye opener for you and all the Pakistanis----it is a sad tragedy that you are asleep----if you cannot see it does not mean that it does not exist.
Conflicts in global world are self limiting, unless you desperately try to make it worse. The recent hostility between India and Pakistan also died out gradually despite all Indian effort to irk a harsh response from Pakistan, diplomacy prevailed. When saner heads are around there is always a way.

Hi,

South china seas are a powder keg now----. India is a new power player----with a new leader---so much power positioning---egos so big----things have become increasingly unpredictable.

It is, when influences change, so does the regional dynamics. India is trying to foster upon anti-China stance while China is doing so on anti-India. China's more aggressive stance against some of its smaller neighbor is due to the fact that Chinese now feel that they have the overwhelming upper hand. But their policy is entirely different for big players where they avoid confrontation til the last moment. For example, despite having the ability of overwhelm Taiwan, Chinese are still very cautious because they know a conflict with Taiwan would directly or indirectly involve US. Likewise for Japan and Korea but not in the case of Vietnam or some other countries. So they take the liberty of their military power plus diplomatic gap and adopt more aggressive stance because it doesn't hurt.

I dont think they are BVR capable,
they're more of a strike platform, their armaments are rather more suitable for ground attack and strike missions.

New guided weapon systems for air defense, airborne attack and surface-to-surface use have been unveiled at the China Airshow in Zhuhai this week.

An operational Xian JH-7 attack fighter was shown carrying the Norinco GB-6 500 kg class gliding dispenser weapon. It has GPS/inertial guidance and is designed to deliver either runway-destroying submunitions or fuel-air explosive bomblets. It was also displayed alongside a Pakistan Air Force Chengdu FC-17. A similar weapon, identified as CS/BBC5, is a 500 kg unitary glide bomb and was displayed next to an H-6M bomber: the external design is similar to the GB-6 except there are six rather than four tail surfaces.
