"The FG defense team noticed this model of a two-seat Chengdu JF-17 fighter, though it looks like it also has fatter spine aft of the cockpit. The engine nozzle also looks different from the Klimov RD-93, so this model would probably be equipped with the Guizhou WS-13 turbofan. Our Asia expert Greg Waldron will have more on this later--assuming the Chinese feel like talking (and they often do)."

The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has successfully completed ground tests on mid-air refuelling probes fitted to its Chengdu Aerospace Corporation/Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) JF-17 Thunder fighter aircraft and expects to carry out the first mid-air refuelling by the end of the summer, the service's chief has told IHS Jane's .

Air Chief Marshall Tahir Rafique Butt said in a 6 June interview at the PAF's headquarters in Islamabad that the addition of the refuelling capability to the JF-17 will improve prospects for international sales of the aircraft, which is jointly produced by China and Pakistan. "The ground tests have been very successful.

The facility on top of Kirana Hill is a PAF radar installation. .

Not the whole mountain top.

The HQ and offices are also located up there...

Didn't know that PAF Radar was located up there, learn something new everyday!

I was just reading up on Grifo radar series, and I saw that Grifo S is compatible with MICA, AMRAAM, etc
I know that PAF rejected the radar, but shouldn't they at least procure a few of them just to test AMRAAM on Jf-17?

It will be great to have an another platform besides the F-16, that can use AMRAAM.

Pakistan is integrating its nuclear-capable Hatf VII/Vengeance VII Ra’ad air launched cruise missile onto its JF-17 Thunder aircraft.
Air Commodore Khalid Mahmood at the JF-17 Project Management Office said integration work was ongoing with Chinese and
Pakistani weapons, and that “most weapons have been integrated”.

“Ra’ad and the H-4 [glide bomb] will be for the Block I and Block II” aircraft currently in or about to enter service, not just the forthcoming Block III variant, he said.

Former Air Force pilot and analyst Kaiser Tufail said "Ra’ad’s integration onto the JF-17 would be very beneficial.

“It would certainly add to PAF’s [Pakistan Air Force’s] stealthy ingress capability [due to low cross-section of the cruise missile]

Hope Block II comes really very soon and that is good news that cruise Missile would be also for Block I

Yang Wei, the chief designer of the aircraft at the Aviation Industry Corp of China said .

Yang’s team will join hands with their Pakistani counterparts to develop future versions of the JF-17, gradually providing the aircraft with partial stealth and aerial refueling capabilities.

Two-seats for JFT is not necessary, why is it important over single seat?

what about the stealth capabilities of two seater. Will it be equivalent to block-1?

Training and then ground missions.

Nothing beats real life experience, a simulator just doesn't give you that 100% feel.

Also fro ground missions because the JF-17 is going to be used for bombing and off-shore missions, a second pilot will help immensely in distributing the work load of the flying pilot, this also gives better efficiency in flying the plane as well as striking the target.

There will be no stealth version. Stealth aircraft are built from ground-upwards, not other way around. The supposed "diamond" shaped nose has more drawbacks than benefits. Simple cost benefit analysis. They can achieve equivalent marginal stealth with reducing other sharp edges and sprinkling it with RAM.
