on a lighter note, during transition, some hot shot pilots called its cockpit, the PS3 (Play Station 3) due to cockpit digitization and high resolution GUI (graphic user interface). :P

Hope PAF learns some propper acrobatics for this years zuhai air show..
Not the boring low passes again.

your hope will remain a hope.PAF mentaility will not change regarding showing off JF-17 capabilities.

its not the matter bro why you want to disclose it ?:what:

There is nothing confidential about flying capabilities of JF-17. On one hand we keep trying to prove that it is capable enough to take on SU30, on the other hand we want to keep them secret. I think PAF simply plays it safe in air displays. A few flares on sharp turns, climbs, etc however would improve visual effect for the pspectators both on the field and screens.

Darky, why do you bring in non sense without giving it a thought ??

Had RD-93s been such a prb after 220hrs, then why just a single crash in 10,000 sorties ?? And these 10,000 sorties reached with JF-17s in PAF service, they must have done many hundreds or thousands while in testing stage in China. The 10,000 sortie figure reached last year and disclosed during the Dubai Air Show, and its nearly a year since then, Pt-06 & Pt-04 flying in China with RD-93 and making regular sorties, then you have near to 40-50 JF-17s in Pakistan doing hundreds of sorties per month with the RD-93s. Don't these figures give you an idea that RD-93s are not performing as bad as they might have performed with IAF service or other Air Forces around the world. And even if the 1 air crash was due to engine issue, its still not a bad record by keeping in view the 10,000+ sorties or flying hours with more then 2 dozen of these jets.

So RD-93s are going fine for us so far and PAF is much happy with it when compared to the turbo jet engines on F-7s & Mirages. Its the 2nd best turbo fan engine with PAF after what F-16s have.

So we are ok with what we have and they are performing above then expectations with JF-17s.

Considering that your figures are correct about the 10000 hrs made by the two squadrons of JF-17 right from its induction in PAF until last year(mid)... a rough estimates gives it around about 500hrs for 20 planes(too much for new pilots) and about 330 hrs for 30 planes(again a very High figure considering that the aircraft is yet to achiever proper weapon system)... the normal MTBO of RD-93 would be about 400hrs... hence all those engines are due for overhauls by now... and your Air force is risking the lives of its pilots and putting the state property(in millions) at risk... If they haven't changed them with a newer engines in reserve/got them for overhaul in Russia... so you must be knowing better about this part before you made the claim...

It isn't necessary that the engine must shut down or stop working after 220 hrs.... I said that it has had issues in the past... not means that PAF must also have issues with it.

Besides that as mentioned before many times here that PAF JF-17 is yet to come across proper currency hour flights when it would be carrying optimum load/full load and be using its after burners more often than they use it now.

The same can be said then for the USAF F-15 or F-16 fleets that use mil power for take off during peace time.
The Jf-17 is logging sorties both in clean states and in optimum load states from both Peshawar and Kamra and Burner usage is not metered out for the training flights at all.

The F-16 and F-15 engines produce enough dry/non after burning thrust values... same cannot be said about most of the Russian engines and specially RD-93/33.

Besides that currency hour flights is for real wartime preparations and not vanilla training... I am sure JF-17 load would increase once you have those pods, BVRs.. etc.. mounted.

That's 10000 sorties, not hours. A sortie is from take-off to landing. A sortie could very well last even 5 mins. Given the fact that this is a brand new aircraft with it's manuals still not complete and a lot of unknowns... i doubt each sortie will last an hour. Also is the fact that it has no trainer, so the JF-17 training regimen would be very restricted, both in time and manuevers. I doubt they would let rookies have 1 hour on each sortie for the aircraft. A most realistic estimate would be smewhere between 5000hrs to 2500hrs for 10000 sorties.
