A lot less than we need I guess. SU-30s can track and attack an aircraft a lot before than we would even see they are there. Whats the way out? We need missiles that can attack at 300KM at least. Ya?

This is the missile range, not radar's range, aircraft first gets detected by the radar, once it comes within the missile range, the missile is launched, which is guided by the aircraft till it reaches at 30KM or so range, from where the missile's own active radar seeker detects the target and zooms onto it, even then the aircraft radar can provide it with location to where search or head towards the target.

MKI is a big target, which will be detected at atleast 100+KM range by the JF-17s, yeah MKIs radar range is much more, but the lesser the RCS of the aircraft, lesser would be the range at which JF-17 can get detected, and we don't know the RCS for JF-17, thus we can't say at what range the MKIs radar will detect it, thus for now its just imaginative on which will detect at what range and who will have the first chance to fire its missile, even the AEW&C is compatible with BVR missiles can guide the missile towards its target, while the launching platform can take a turn and make a run to safe itself from incoming missiles from enemy aircraft.

So all speculation for now, who will be the hunter and who will get hunted.

:)

Pakistan to offer JF-17 Thunder fighters at Farnborough Air Show

July 19 (RIA Novosti)
Islamabad will put its JF-17 Thunder fighter aircraft on sale at the Farnborough Air Show near London, a Pakistani TV channel said on Monday.

According to a senior source, Turkey and a range of Middle East and African states are interested in the fighters. The money from any sales will be steered into the country's air force.

The JF-17 Thunder is a lightweight tactic multirole supersonic combat aircraft jointly developed by the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex and the Chinese Chengdu Aircraft Industries Corporation.

About 50% of the on-board equipment and avionics for the fighter is manufactured in Pakistan at the Kamra plant, while the rest of the assembly parts come from China.

The Farnborough Air Show, one of the most preeminent global aviation events, will be held from July 19 - 25. The first five days of the show will be dedicated to concluding deals and the exhibition will then be open to the public over the weekend.

There is a thing that should be kept in mind that its not all about the range that matters....even if MKI pilot is able to fire a missile from 120 miles, this effectively means that JFT pilot has time to maneuver unless missile covers 120 miles....ample time it should be for a fighter pilot....the element of kill is the surprise factor that you can give to your enemy....300 KM missile will not be much effective even though it gives you the 1st shot but its weight and importantly range will undermine the potential....Lets take the example of raptor....when raptor fires a slammer. the slamer's seeker is off and it is guided by AWACS to its target via data link. when it is appropriately near to nail the target...you suddenly get a beep when slammer is on you're head. No reaction time...more chance of kill..blaaaammmhhh!.....JFT has an Awacs DL fortunately....so this effectively means that AWACS can serve as eyes and ears of JFT and thus, JFT can fire its BVRAAM while keeping its radar off (thus reducing its detection range resultantly the room to close in more for a shot...and let the AWACS do the rest until seeker turns on near enemy AC....certainly more effective than a 300Km BVRAAM

What is the range of the air-air missiles that jf-17 carry???
Is it able to fire ALCM??

Alhamdolillah:
A2A=PL-12/SD-10 Range 70Km Plus for right now.It will be increased hopefully to 120KmPlus in new versions.
Yes it can carry ALCM/Raad(but Kamra factory website specifically dont give its details)
I guess u can check info on Kamra website.
