the JF 17 will not be fully integrated 7--10 years from its production----. That is the standard gestation period---plus the setback that the paf had with france----it hurt them bad---regardless what they say.

There is alot to be learned by every Pilot to be ready, cockpit issue is handling the thousands of things that you must have mastered for a normal fighter mission. Besides just the skill of flying the jet, there is Navigation and interacting with your Wingmen, plus the Radar, Armament, Defensive Electronics, Weather, and Tactics, and evasive maneuvers dodging missiles and number of tactics...

Besides the fun, Flying especially Fighter Flying is also very demanding, and is much more than just pointing an airplane around the sky as my Pakistan members here think you go up wallah Thunder roars for a meal! First comes academic preparation, and people should known even after out of academy Pilots will keep learning, learning of complex concepts, consider the following areas that will have to learn as a part of Pilot Training: Aerodynamics & aircraft flight controls, Aeronautical Engineering, Jet Engine theory and mechanics, Hydraulics, Electrical Systems, Pneumatic Systems, Fuel Systems, Radios, Navigation, Communication Procedures, Airspace & Airways structure and Rules of Flight, Flight Instruments, Instrument Flying Procedures, Fighter Air Combat, Ground Attack, Weapons, Tactical Formation, and all applicable military procedures...It just can't be done in a couple of Years when Pilots have limited number of Flight Hours allotted.. but people you see why Air Force Pilot Training is 3+ Years and then conversion and so on PAF is not USAF you are not a young gun who sits in F-15s and Raptors they are on a different level...

The missile fired was a PL-5EII, which was integrated and tested in mid 2010.

Considering the Size of the rear fins..it looks like the 5E-II..
still cant see those front ones though.. cant be that small that we cant pick em out on the video can they?

SD-10 is the export name for PL-12

Considering the Size of the rear fins..it looks like the 5E-II..
still cant see those front ones though.. cant be that small that we cant pick em out on the video can they?

Must be the distance of the snap, angle of missile, quality of camera or all these three.
Or maybe even tested without the fins, I can't say why.

From this image we can see as pointed out by Oscar that the missile is missing its canards or frontal fins. According to this website many air to air missiles use these canards (among others) for maneuvering. So was the missile fired as an unguided rocket (assuming the missile is a PL-5)?

I just named the missile, it's specifications and integration with JF-17.
However, I cannot justify the fact why was it missing the canards.
I will try to research on it, and answer the question.
