So there are 2 types of KLJ7A radar

Two variants of KLJ-7A AESA confirmed.

One has 1 single nose array mounted on a mechanically steered mount to provide greater field of regard similar to CAPTOR-E/Raven ES-05/Vixen 1000E.

The other has 3 arrays (1 nose+2 side, all fixed) with a cross section suggestive of chines

I really hope PAF selects 3 array radar

I think Chinese have given two options for KLJ-7A Aesa radar with price difference. Its upto Pakistan which option it chooses for Block-3 version. May be 3-array option is for some specialized Block-3s for some dedicated jobs.

The Steerable KLJ-7A maybe (or should be IMHO due to costs) the standard Block 3 package while the 3 Panel variant maybe the EW version (as I stated some time ago was important to protect the rest of a squadron), equipped with DRFM pods on the wing tips a Ga-N Jamming Pod down the center line. 3-4 EW variants in each Squadran should keep the S-400 Radars down and jam enemy AWACS and Fighters. This will allow Reduced RCS JF-17 with the standard Steerable KLJ-7A (and maybe some Self Protection EW equipment) to roll in and launch long range BVR Shots followed by agile WVR missile shots to mop up enemy forces that persist.

r we going to get 3d array klj7A

PAF has selected Low end version of KLJ-7A as per the GM of 14th Institute which built the KLJ-7A

Based on the interview, there are two versions of KJL7a:one is "HIGHEND" that has two sidevison AESE like your PIC,the other is "LOWEND" that has no such aese。And the "LOWEND" version was chosen by PAF 。

In the interview, the presenter had asked such a question to de GM of 14所(the manufacturer of KJL-7a),and the GM confirmed that the LOWEND version was chosen by PAF.

The Three Panel KLJ-7A can be marketed to the Saudi and other Gulf Arab Air Forces as part of a sale of JF-17 Block 3 fighters. Cost effective fighters with all the bells and whistle but at a price point where they can field them as workhorses. B Model Block 3 (twin seaters) would probably be best for the LIFT role as well as ground attack or anti-shipping against the speed boat threat in the Gulf or Red Sea. PAF pilots could then fly them for the RSAF if so requested, and in times of war the Saudis could loan them to the PAF. Win-Win-Win for the Saudis, Pakistanis, and Chinese.

(PAF Needs 3 EW Variants per Squadron could be ideal to protect the rest of the fighters; @26 squadrans; that makes 78 aircraft; so round up to 80 for spares; Pakistan look to sell this many EW variants and market them at a discount to allies in exchange for wartime reserve status. If Pakistan can spread out the acquistion among the GCC, assuming all would loan back the planes in time of war, this would be the approx. number the GCC would need to acquire based on a fair division based on the size of their respective fighter fleets: Saudi 28, UAE 14, Qatar 14, Kuwait 10, Oman 8, Bahrain 6)

Diversifying Saudi Arabia's defense partnerships to include the Chinese in a bigger way will also help the Saudis feel they can't be pressured by any external ally as they are being at the moment (US pressuring Saudi Arabia to end its war in Yemen within 30 days, just like that).

Another appealing factor is the freedom for the Saudi Air Force to not be prevented from buy a Stealth Fighter. The West wants to maintain a qualitative edge for on of its partners in the region and buying a Stealthy or Semi-Stealthy Chinese or Pakistani/Chinese option would get them around that limitation.

Finally Chinese munitions come out all the time, and are customized to the needs of the customer very quickly. The Iranian Speed boat threat can be neutralized with more affordable Chinese CS/BBM 2 then the SDB 2.

This is the Current F-35 capability as of 2018. These capabilities the Saudis can pick and choose an the JF-17 team can see if they can accommodate

@Bratva @Bilal Khan (Quwa) the above is in line with what @messiach said earlier. Block 3 will see mission specific aircrafts optimized for their own role.
