JF-17 Block-3 -- Updates, News & Discussion

Taiwan upgrading their 144 F-16 fleet to o V standard a cost of 5.33 billion Dollar that roughly 36 million per plan. if relation with US later improve Pakistan must upgrade their fleet towards F-16V standard.
Beside F-16V J-10C is only logical at this moment to counter Rafale and super Su30 MKI threat .
36 million per plane is very expensive

Viper upgrade is off the shelf purchase ... and even if there are some country-specific changes 36 million per piece is way too much ...
Well they only have Blk 20s maybe the price includes upgrades as well as the avionics upgrade.

Taiwan AF F16 fleet upgrade to F-16V standard actually without 100% full V standard packages install, it due to Taiwan AF F-16 engine don't upgrade in this packages cause power supply not enough to provide electric require for all v-spec system/sensor. some think like 70-80% of V standard packages install. Taiwan AF hope with powerfull AN/APG-83 AESA radar can detect J-20 and kill it using BVR missile.

In Current scenario USA. UK & FRANCE trying to lable as terrorist country on Pakistan they are fully supported Indian point of view in UN security council in this bitter reality why we invest $5 billion heuge amount in F16 fleet instead
$ 5 Billion we can boost AZM project or invest in another kind of fighter Jet project but subject to availability of funds.

I agree but project azm is 10 to 15 years away ... aquiring any new platform with AESA will take atleast 15 to 20 billions for the whole package ... for us the quickest way to get latest fighters is upgradation of f16 ... i think real issue is to get approval from US the authority to future upgrade f16s on our own accord just like turks ... otherwise we need another aircraft to complement thunder in air superiority role

As stated above China is manufacturing new batches of JF-17 Block 3 jet for Pakistan.Kindly explain how many numbers of total new JF-17 B3 is being manufactured by China for Pakistan and how much money will Pakistan pay to China now ???
If you all remember, at the end of his last visit to China,PM Imran Khan told in press that ""we signed several agreements with China but Chinese goverment said, not to mention some agreement ( defence?) as other Chinese friends may get angry with China"".
May be these were about new jet and missiles manufacturing.??

I fully agree.

I am convinced that we will see J-10C (export version) in PAF colors because with induction of AESA equipped Rafales, PAF F-16 fleet would become vulnerable. The EW capabilities of Block-52 F-16 squadron may provide it with some option to survive an attack, but this carries an element of risk that should be unacceptable. Modern warfare without AESA & low RCS (< 1m^2) will soon be an exercise in futility, in the South Asian theater atleast. I doubt that we will see further air-warfare hostilities until IAF has inducted Rafales in meaningful numbers and that may not take very long. In this context, looking for used F-16s would be counter-productive.

JF-17 Block-III would bring a lot of value, but if it does not match Rafale in all departments (except payload & range), PAF would need to induct another platform. Project Azm may not mature fast enough. Therefore, IMV, J-10C would be needed before long.

Pakistan would not be able to afford J-31 and if PAF does indeed get it, I doubt the number would go beyond a squadron - too few to make a major dent.

Remember, IAF can out-spend PAF. Being smarter may not carry the same advantages it did many decades ago.
It might be foolish to go for FC31 at this moment. The platform has not matured yet as opposed to J10C. Also Pak has NGF(under project Azm) which is supposed to be analogous to FC31(as in being next gen)...so unless FC31 is somehow NGF(which it's not according to rumors/insider news), there is no point in getting it. In contrast acquiring J10C makes more sense...
...PAF should work with China starting NOW and send pilots to get training on J10C...while at the same time start setting aside funds for the acquisition of two squadrons of J10C. IAF will reportedly start getting delivery of Rafale this year and it would take some time for them to try out their new toys...train and develop tactics...2020 at the earliest. If PAF starts training its pilots now then it can hit the ground running and quickly become operational once the J10s are received...of course all that assumes that money becomes available.

It does not matter. In a defensive role, the range is good enough.

For defence we have JF 17 and F 7 PGs.

If it can't supplement and eventually replace mirages and MLU F 16s in strike role then it does not give us any incremental advantage over BLK 3s.

Obviously China partner Chengdu Aircraft will built 1-2 unit JF-17 block 3 for testing. after test complete, JF-17 Block 3 manufacture will be in Pakistan. test unit being built in china now.

If butdget issue, PAF getting 1 squadron first also ok. even 8-12 unit J10C also ok.

I agree with your suggestions.
But first of all you should convey your message to concerned authorities ,to get J10-C , as much as numbers are possible. So far no confirmed news for J-10C is available.
Today,Islamabad Times has following news "" ISLAMABAD: The J-10 fighter jets of the People’s Liberation Army Air Force’s Ba Yi Aerobatic Team have arrived in Pakistan in preparation for a flight performance here on March 23 in celebration of Pakistan’s National Day.""
Does that mean this J-10 is coming as a testing jet because China did not send any other jet fighter for 23 March parade ??
What is meant by"" NGF(under project Azm) which is supposed to be analogous to FC31(as in being next gen)"""
