currently Japan has no nukes,if Japan goes nuclear,China will dramatically increase her nuclear ability which has been stockpiled from 1960s. as the biggest industrial nation in the world,let there be no doubt China's capability of mass producing anything.China is a vast country and has been building underground military bunkers and tunnels in the mountains for more than half a century.if there is a nulcear exchange between China and Japan,guess who gets wiped out first.

Western estimate is that China has enough nukes to at least destroy the earth once. destroying a tiny country like Japan doesn't need much. if Japan chose to go nuclear, it amounts to committing suicide.

Your post #6 and post #9 are exact opposite, and by the the land area of Japan wont increase even if they get nukes,i guess you guys already have enought to destroy Japan,even if you increase your nuclear ability,you are not bringing anything thing new to the table for Japan to worry, but if they go nuclear then they are bringing in something new to the table and for you to worry about.

Some bellicose hyper-nationalists here don't seem to grasp that Japan would develop nuclear weapons only as a defensive deterrent, not to launch a first strike against anyone. As they know doing that would be committing national suicide. Japan, like any other rational actor isn't interested in committing national suicide.

Do you know who will be ultimate loser if Korea and Japan possessed Nuke? Certainly not China, we have nothing to lose because we're already facing the worst nuke menace which is U.S. But if these nations have Nukes, they will be confident to defend themself then why they need to continue listening and obey U.S? especially Japan, it hasn't forgot the two nukes that U.S had smacked on them during WWII. Kissenger said Japaneses are dreaming Nukes exchange between China-US to realise one stone two birds for revenge and weakening China, this has proven that they're not on honey moon with US

if U.S think to use Japan again China, Japan also want to see China-US getting into conflict to withdraw maximun interests and satistaction. Japan just bow to US because it doesn't has other options, they have all high tech technology to build missile to hit U.S, with Nuke, they will certainly have a hard bargain with U.S, a loosing dog can bite anyone include American...it that ever happen American can kiss and say goodbye to Asia...maybe Phillipinne will let U.S to have a naval base but then the new game will be rewrote in Asia : China vs Japan vs US and not US + Japan vs China as current situation.

Please note that, time has changed so as the current India, come out of 1960's.

I accept that, China has more might than India however, that doesn't mean you take India for granted.

Heck, all big talks of yours, even tiny countries like Japan (according to you) and Vietnam (tiny country for you ?) are standing tall against MIGHTY China ! What have you done till now except whining ?

Nuke have also been in the alternative plan on the "WHAT-IF" situation but that was not the US official Position. Had the Chinese troop gone south of Seoul, the US woulod then consider the "WHAT-IF" situation. But histroy proof that Chinese troop were never even close to south of Seoul, hence the nuclear weapon plan had never really gone ahead.

Threaten but didn't carry out. That all it matter, China knew full well US in the past nuked Japan without hesitation, China still enter the Korean war without any possession any nuclear threat.

a deterrent is only good for those countries with vast lands which enable them to survive the first attack . a tiny country like Japan would never survive the first attack.that's why Japan never thinks about developing nuclear weapons.

if the japanese are scared of nukes then they should probably go for some ballistic nuclear submarines which can launch slbm.................
that would avoid a nuclear war in the first case and they would be able to maintain a no first strike policy........

Of all the countries we have problems with, India is the easiest to slap around as we showed in April of last year. Vietnam and Philippines are way tougher to deal with than weak India.

Laos and Cambodia are tough, don't pretend that India is stronger than these countries.

India will always be on their knees.
Just look at how they let our army invade their sovereignty and did nothing about it.
