Japan and US enclose Chinese coast within sensor net

Yeah, but the control is still in our hand, right.......?

Do you think our parliament know about "the secret part of the project" ?

surely, we are part of the information gathering pools. That's why although Indonesia lately invested a lot for ASW including Surveillance and detection capability to enhance and augment those system. BTW, India is been involved in this "humanitarian" project too, and as result Indian Navy is lately will have a more elaborate strategic partnership with JMSDF and US Navy.

For the parliament, maybe only a handful person, not all of them

Very good info, thank you, that made everything very clear, very smart move from USA and allies.

The reality of the situation, no matter how much the chinese try to spin their pseudo takeover of the SCS is that they are still boxed inside the first island chain no matter what, geography is geography, and actually, the Spratly islands area can easily be made into a "kill box" by US forces and their allies.

Any input about this from @Nihonjin1051 @Yorozuya @gambit @SvenSvensonov @jhungary etc

Part of me feels bad for the Chinese because they do, indeed, have a small maritime domain , they are constrained due to the fact that she has multiple coastal neighbors. Let's examine, shall we?

Japan is not constrained the same way as China is, in terms of maritime territory. In fact we have our arms into the depths of the Western Pacific. :)

Don't reveal too much, maam!

their ballistic missile carrier nuclear powered submarine and SSN will be a bane in future, if they can goes through Indonesian water literally they can slip through unpunished to wider area of Pacific Ocean and India Ocean

Yah, at least every body know now that we have the system to protect our sea route .......... Not so simple to intrude without being detected......... 8-)

Our military also see it as benefiting our under sea defense system.

This is the more reason why the growth of Indonesia's Submarine fleet as well as ASW frigates is a necessity to prevent foreign navies from sneaking around Indonesia's vast maritime domain. Or at least have the capacity to track them if they're ever in the vicinity.

The PLAN usually is constrained to the vicinity of the Taketomi islands if they need to reach the Pacific Ocean. This is where the JMSDF dedicates the 1st Escort Flotilla and we do track them when they cross this area. Other than that they can't access the Pacific deep in Japanese waters because anywhere else is highly patrolled by our Fleets.

This is why Japan is building a larger military base by Yonaguni, specifically for the JASDF and JMSDF.

it's inconvenient for most of us not knowing what is happening in your own sea

the only problems is Indonesia lacks of combat purpose platform for ASW roles, then we can't maintain the presence in our water and made a persistent detection. Not to mention lacks of Support unit for that purposes

All this is happening very near to our Andaman island chains moreover it has become a hotbed of our armed forces activities especially navy and air force,I sense something fishy that won't come out in open due to political reasons

Buying US2 and fortify Andaman is part of it great game

Can you elaborate about the larger military base in Yonaguni? I have a folder of articles about Yonaguni, but everything I read is about a radar station and a small naval outpost with 50 to 200 troops and sometimes the temporary stationing of land base antiship missiles during exercises.

Yes, there is a "grand alliance" in the making, nothing public for now, but its very substantial.

Buddy there is more, recently our govt made an understanding with US to mutually use their Naval Bases

Our PM already changed our policy from look East to act East that means greater and tangible partnership with our strategic east Asian friends be it Vietnam,Indonesia, south korea or Japan but only Philippines is missing

Yonaguni already accommodates JMSDF vessels that are permanently patrolling these waters any given time. But the recent approval of the town to allow military base construction means that a radar installation will be built, as well as the deployment of anti ship batteries (I'm guessing we'll be deploying 12SSM), as for the JASDF, I believe they will be constructing an expansion of the current air strip there, and we might see deployment of AAMs.

Type 12 SSMs, these will choke any foreign navy trying to pass through the Yonaguni island

I wonder what the heck is Japan waiting for in order to activate the unused Shamokin island airfield (Miyako islands), a 3000 meter runway, the only one in the Southern Ryukyus that can handle the F-15s? That's much closer to the Senkakus than flying from Okinawa.

Oh ok, this is the info that I already had, but it looks like it might become something bigger.
I think Japan should move faster on that.

The JASDF has a massive F-15 Fleet in the JASDF's Nahal Air Base in the southern part of Okinawa Island. Miyako Island has F2s, but most importantly it is home to some search and rescue craft such as Hawker 800 and BAes.

Yup, it was on the works, buddy. It was just this past December '14 that the town of Yonaguni voted in favor of base construction. So now we can finally stop "hoping" and finally start "building" lol

The airfield in Yonaguni is only 2000 meters, it can only be expanded by taking it into the sea.

Sounds good. As you can see, I've been following the events in the area and I've been hoping for more solid developments there.
