You have to understand that Myanmar does have a black economy that their Military has a direct stake in. So don't fall for statistics and numbers open to public.
The Burmese military junta needs military strength to maintain their hold. Which is why they are willing and able to fund these procurements.
I am aware of that.
The point is that the Myanmar Generals will not have anymore money than what they can extract out of that tiny economy.
Some of what he says on that list will happen but others are pure fantasy unless China gives them stuff for free.
And please stop quoting economic growth of BD. It makes no difference if the leadership is not keen to make bold decisions.
Economic growth is everything for a country like BD that has kept defence spending constant at 1.5% of GDP pretty much since independence. You think that BD would even be thinking about Western arms if it was not for it's relatively high economic growth over the years? Economy falters and then forget about buying Western arms like Apache, Euro-fighter etc
BD seems to have a state policy(both military government/BNP/AL) to keep defence spending at 1.5% of GDP. BD's "bold decisions" all come from economic growth as you can now see.
Bangladesh should have gone all out for J 10s with ToT, for single engine MRCA platform a long time ago.
J-10 was only really realistic since last year when the Chinese WS-10B engine matured enough to be put into the airplane.
Before then Russia would have needed to have allowed re-export of their AL-31 engine and there was little chance of that when they wanted to sell their planes to BD.
I am also not convinced on the avionics and radar on earlier J-10s either.
To be fair to BAF on the other hand, we needed more trained pilots, so the trainers and the infrastructure like radar coverage of the entire country was necessary. But the progress has been very slow to everyone's liking.
More like lack of integrated long-term plan on their part.
While every other air-force on the planet builds trainers and fighter force simultaneously BAF wants to spend a whole decade buying "stop-gap" F-7s, followed by trainers and then caught with their pants down by Myanmar back in 2017.
Totally incompetent top-brass in BAF and hope the idiots at the top have either changed their ways or been replaced.
