As far as what pentagon correspondent is saying. If there was a count, the count after all was done by US government, on Pakistan's behest, so why not wait for an official statement from them, rather that implicitly trusting a reporter quoting un-named sources.

How do you know its done on Pakistans behest and not US behest? Or not both! And why would that even be a crime? I would assume LM would like to know if an F16 was shot down and then investigate how it happened?

How do you know if an official statement is supposed to come from US on this matter? Do you think US is like an empire or referee who we should all wait to settle scores now ... and all western journalists should seal their lips if their sources have info that puts cold water on Indian claims?

The audits of PAF F16s are a routine matter and have been done since the first jet PAF got in 80s.
Lara Seligman of FP did a story just like your media did stories on these issues and its their right - just because goes against IAF claim doesn't mean she will now stop doing her job and only let US govt speak on this. Being a DC Based Pentagon correspondent for FP I would trust her sources in US DoD to be credible than an Indian news agency.
