NHA starts paper work on Islamabad metro bus project
Project length is 26.5 km and it is divided into three packages: Peshawar Morr to G-13,G-13 to N-5 interchange and from N-5 Interchange to New Islamabad Airport. It will cost around Rs 18 billion and construction of four interchanges and 14 stopovers (stations) are also part of the project.
 
PC-1 for metro service to new airport approved

ISLAMABAD: The National Highway Authority (NHA) on Tuesday approved the PC-1 for construction of infrastructure for metro bus service from Peshawar Mor to new Islamabad airport.

A meeting of the executive board of the NHA, which gave approval to the PC-1, was informed that all the necessary arrangements were being made for timely completion of the project which includes a Metro Bus Road from Peshawar Mor to the airport.

Ten stations will be constructed on the route of the Metro Bus, while three stations will be constructed in the future.

The NHA chairman told the meeting that the authority was strengthening its monitoring and inspection system to ensure quality construction of highway schemes throughout the country.
 
Islamabad Metro Bus Extension to Complete Soon


The National Highway Authority (NHA) spokesperson Kashif Zaman has announced that the metro bus service construction on Peshawar Mor-New Islamabad Airport is in process and will complete by the end of November or early December.

Structures and underpasses, including the main underpass Golra Mor (G-13), have been completed and the underpasses would be open to the public in the next two weeks, he further added.

“Asphalt work on all the four packages is also in progress simultaneously,” says the NHA official.

The Rs 15 billion extension project is sectioned into four segments to ensure the project is completed on time.


  • Package I from Peshawar Mor to NUST, length 8km
  • Package II from NUST to GT Road, length 3.8km
  • Package III from G T Road to Motorway Interchange, length 8.3km
  • Package IV from Motorway Interchange to New airport, length 5.5km
Construction on Packages-IV had started up in June last year, Package-III in March 2017 and Packages I and II started out in April 2017, says the NHA spokesman.

Cost per Package
He also mentioned about the cost per Package, which is:

  • 6.58 billion for Package I
  • 5.5 billion for Package II
  • 1.38 billion for Package III
  • 1.63 billion for Package IV
Stations

The project would consist of 9 bus stations which include,

  • NHA station
  • G-10 station
  • NUST station
  • G-1 station
  • G T road station
  • Badana Kalan station
  • Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway and Islamabad-Lahore Motorway Junction Station
  • Airport Station
12 bridges, 26 culverts, and 11 underpasses would be a part of this project.
 
Islamabad - Islamabad Highway became signal free from Zero Point to Karal interchange, as Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry inaugurated Sohan Interchange on the highway on Saturday.

On the occasion, Dr Tariq said that the interchange had been completed with a cost of Rs740 million in a period of 13 months.

He said that a sum of Rs400 million had also been allocated for renovating the Service Road (East) from Faizabad to Karal Interchange.

Sohan Interchange leading to Faizabad flyover at main Islamabad Expressway has been inaugurated officially and now functional for the public.
