Dhaka, Mar 10: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday reiterated that there is no doubt that Khaleda Zia took money from Pakistani intelligence, ISI, during the 1996 and 2001 general elections. “There’s no doubt about it she (Khaleda) took money from ISI in the 1996 elections and it’s also sure that the heftier amount of money came during the 2001 election,” she said while exchanging views with local Awami League leaders from Comilla (North) at her official residence Ganobhaban as part of her ongoing interactions with the grassroots leaders. Members of the Awami League Central Working Committee, members of Comilla (North) district AL, presidents and general secretaries of associate bodies of the district, local party lawmakers, party-backed upazila chairmen and vice-chairmen in the district, and presidents and general secretaries of upazila, municipality and union units attended the meeting.

Hasina said it will be out one day in the future that Khaleda Zia took money from ISI during the 1996 elections.

Regarding her party’s defeat in 2001 polls, Hasina said Pakistani intelligence ISI, Indian intelligence RAW and that of the USA got together when she declined to sell gas without having 50 years of reserve for the country. “As I didn’t agree to sell gas, ISI, RAW and USA got united against us,” she said.

Talking about the opposition’s ‘Dhaka Cholo’ programme, the Prime Minister said she is worried as the opposition leader is going to create anarchy in the country.
“I’m thinking how I’ll save public life and property.”

She also said the opposition leader is killing people in the name of movement and it was seen in December 18 last year, too. “She (Khaleda) never feels good when people live in peace, that’s why she wants to create anarchy in the name of movement,” Hasina said.

The premier alleged that Khaleda Zia is still planning to take fund from the ISI and get assistance from the defeated forces in 1971.

“If anyone becomes ‘Dalal’ (collaborator) of a country and work in favour of that country they should be bundled out to that particular country,” Hasina said.

The Prime Minister said a conspiracy is on to frustrate the hard-earned democracy of the country. Regarding her demand for caretaker government in 1994, Hasina said at that time BNP had engaged in vote rigging and that proved correct in the subsequent elections.

Hasina went on: “During the last three years of the present government, each and every election was held in a free, fair and peaceful manner.

People cast their votes in favour of the candidates of their choice. No allegation from any quarter was raised regarding the results of the elections.”

Some 5200 elections at different levels have so far been held under this government.
Hasina mentioned that the government believes in the empowerment of the mass people and engaged in various activities that ultimately help people to improve their lifestyle.

The Prime Minister asked the grassroots leaders to hold their councils quickly so that the party central council could be held in time.

She also requested them to put in their extra efforts to make the party stronger to face any sort of conspiracy against the country and democracy.

Dhaka, Mar 10 (bdnews24.com) – Prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday accused BNP chief Khaleda Zia of taking money from Pakistani intelligence agency ISI before the June 1996 and Oct 2001 parliamentary elections.

"It is beyond doubt that she (Khaleda) took money before 1996 national polls. The future will reveal more on... I think the amount was higher in 2001," she said.

Hasina was exchanging views with Comilla district unit Awami League leaders at her official residence Ganabhaban.

A news item appeared in a national Bangla newspaper on Mar 4 alleging the BNP chief of took money from ISI before the 5th parliamentary election in 1991.

Hasina said anyone working in favour of other countries should be 'packed and sent to that country'.

Apparently referring to the opposition's Mar 12 grand rally, the PM said, "I am worried what anarchy she (Khaleda Zia) would create."

"I am only thinking how the government will protect the people and their property."

The BNP chief is set to announce fresh anti-government agitation programmes from the Mar 12 grand rally in Dhaka.

On the other hand, fearing obstructions from the government, opposition leader Khaleda Zia on Friday warned the government of dire consequences if they were not allowed to hold the 'peaceful programme'.

The prime minister alleged that the BNP chief is trying to 'create anarchy' in the name of movement.

"You have killed people in the name of movement. They (BNP) don't want the people to live in peace," Hasina said.

Without naming anyone, the prime minister said a 'particular group' is plotting to upset the country's democracy. "You are conspiring against democracy taking money from the ISI and with assistance from the defeated force."

Pls also not forget that incoming Indian CoAS have a Pakistani daughter-in-law.

And the point is ?????????

Pls don't bring bring family contacts that have no real value while making strategic decisions. ISI head's Indian connection or Indian COAS's Pakistani connection will have little or no value while they make decisions concerning their forces and nation.

not really, sometimes we blame AL and BNP too ;)

You start with AL and end with India.
