Is Sheikh Hasina turning Bangladesh into a one-party state?

On poverty and shortage of capital, that another country overcame by forcing people to do what their leadership demanded, by taking steps that led to famine and death in the millions, by imposing the will of one individual on the country with the largest population in the world, by placing the country's armed forces in the collective ownership of one political party, not of the nation. And the fact that this largest population in the world could thereafter shit in enclosed spaces in toilets is enough to justify those crimes in the name of the people?
It's not your concern. And your father Russia is gonna dump you soon.

If you look at it now, it turned out somewhat good for them. Didn't it?Although the process may had been hellish.

Did it? If you have read about Maslow's theory of the hierarchy of human needs and aspirations, they have learnt to survive and achieve material prosperity; the morally deaf and dumb among them have even learnt to admire and brag about the collars that they were, each and every individual one of them. Is that as good as it gets? I don't intend to continue this discussion; this post is only due to my respect for you.

Xi jinPing himself is a victim of the cultural revolution, he almost died when forced to work in remote area with very bad living conditions.
Mao did lots of wrong things, but he is still a great man. For example: hit Indian intruders with slam-hedge in 1962 while we suffered threat from Soviet and the great Famine.

India is a sly opportunist without long term commitment. always on the fence and ready to backstab.

.....says the back-stabber.

Irony is not a word that translates well into Chinese.

I actually think it should remain single-party rule till Hasina retires. Its better that way, especially for a transforming country like us. As per history, we are champions of undoing good work accomplished by others and hence, such leniency cannot be accommodated at this critical juncture of time. On a head-to-head basis, Hasina clearly has done more for the economy and the military, in spite of failing in many other areas. As long as our people gets to eat 3 times a day, dont think they care how much corrupt money the government is making.

Hasina should stay in government and finish all the work/mega projects she started within the next 5-6 years, so that we dont have to look back anymore. There is absolutely no alternative to this.

Tell me why there are no toilet in India?

Blame it on democracy?

Go acquaint yourself with some facts instead of being a cheap troll:

Terrible argument my friend. Basically the moral problem is the opinions of those innocent lives lost (at unfathomable scales still largely unknown in any degree of accuracy) are simply totally inaccessible. They have been wiped out....they never were asked was it worth it for them to die (really in the end that is the final solution extreme authoritarians use to silence the voices of the "lessers" permanently), and see everyone around them, loved ones included, die too in front of their eyes in the most horrific ways imaginable....for some perceived silver lining later.

Then the generation now does not even acknowledge this, but continues to delude themselves in veneration of the mass murderer, his portrait still up there at an edifice that pre-dates him by centuries and millenia, the very existence and triumph of civilisation that gave this land the name China, or "Middle Kingdom" when feeling positive pride.

Surely his victims souls looking down upon that scene would be horrified and revolted....but it is the sad tragedy we (on Earthly realm )can never listen to their side of the story, not now...not ever.

There was a scene in Babylon 5, a great sci-fi series with much underlying philosophy....that I am suddenly reminded of, when a fortune teller tells the protagonist (and later Tyrant)....that many voices cry his name in the future vision.....and he asks "my followers?".....and the mage replies....."No....your victims".

while we suffered threat from Soviet and the great Famine.

Ah yes the great famine that Mao kept exporting grain to cover up. Grain that could have fed those cannibalising their own loved ones at that very moment....and now safely tucked away in your little insulated cocoon of space and time...you use that same filthy lie of "dulce et decorum est, pro patria mori"....that everyone outside China somehow knew of the turmoil China was facing and "attacked" anyway (because they are just evil since they are non-middle kingdom barbarians)....simply to add to some "long march" feelz of moral superiority you lot have always craved for and cannot seem to ever satiate.

You do much honour keeping that portait right up there where it is. Truly you have invented a new religion to replace the old, for simply the sake of replacing the old....with no regard to what you are destroying and what you are replacing it with. Mao is proud of you....you are a fine Red Guard indeed.

Irony is not a word that translates well into Chinese.

The Chinese used to know such nuance well. Confucious himself once said "If we do not know life....how can we know death?" . Many of their ancient epics harness this elder knowledge and wit as well.

But you see, the soul force running in these cultural treasures have been nearly completely stripped from the Chinese mentality now. They are somewhat of an undead now, running amok, devoid of what connects them wholeheartedly and positively to their history.....other than that which can be emotionally useful for the Mao, might makes right complex.

You really need to delve into deep conversation with the Chinese outside this complex (largely found outside the CPC political suffocation) to get a real idea of whats going on... the deep disdain they have for the mainland today....not on a reactionary level, but something "rotten within the state of denmark" kind of thing.

Finally because of a simple comment of @wanglaokan ,
This thread is derailed by @Nilgiri, too bad.
Tell me @Nilgiri ,
Being a democracy doesn't mean you have to change your goverment every four or five years.
was this comment of @wanglaokan too much unrealistic or offensive that you need to start a complete off topic discussion by tagging Mr @Joe Shearer and then the result is destruction of another thread that was related to BD politics? I am not saying that your post is irrational, still, was this thread about "if Chinese know what is holy democracy or not"? It was a simple personal harmless opinion from him, but you caught it and started that flame that was completely unnecessary.
So now tell me

Who acted as troll? You or @wanglaokan?
?
It's you who diverted this thread without any provocation from any BD folks.
Please can we back to topic? It was a good thread and you even can show your holy democratic right without diverting the thread about Chinese stuff .
Thank you.

Why are you begging this idiot to stop?
Please stop giving him so much importance.
Thread will go back to topic soon and anyway
the important points have already been made.
OP has been roundly advised that the virtual
one-party state is the best for BD at this stage.

No mate not that . I am just too much disturbed with his incessant act in various threads .

That's why I have showed that how he derails a thread (even without any provocation from BD folks) and put blame on others.
I just don't find it good thing to start hammering on someone without showing their mistakes politely .
I hope he will realize , otherwise atmosphere can be changed, as derailing almost all BD threads don't amuse me.

Who the F made you the authority on what is and what isn't derailing.

Gee discussing what democracy is and isn't is a huuuuuuge derailing in a thread with one party state right in the title.

Just report it and move on instead of crying the typical BD sissy tears yet again.

Nah not that, just showing your past whining of being pro BD who try to bash BD with the immature ( according to you) behavior of PDF BD folks. Just remembered your crocodile tears for Bangladesh in some comments , that how much you want BD folks to be rational, you started spoiling threads only because they talk big bla bla bla ... I just showed you that you derail threads only because it ( derailing BD threads) gives you bliss. However it's not unexpected from sanghis, they have different colors.

However it looks you even dont want and also don't deserve minimum respect from your adversaries. Well I will remember that in future :-).

Even as a BAL supporter I don't want an autocratic political regime at the helm of my country. Yes, it's a proven fact that a visionary leader can achieve a lot in an autocratic environment.

But at the same time it's also true that a corrupt, stubborn and misguided autocrat can cause irreparable damage to a country. Results r already there to be seen. Look at what Kim un or Saddam did to their respective countries. Even a leader of Fidel Castro's caliber did more harm to Cuba than good.

Yes, hasina is doing great atm. But how long will she be able to maintain it. Who knows what will she or her party will become in a condition where they won't need to answer to anyone or worry about the consequences of their decisions. As they say, democracy isn't perfect but it's the least bad form of government.
