A woman has been arrested in the US for allegedly trying to smuggle night-vision rifle scopes and arms to Russia.

Beautician Anna Fermanova, 24, a US citizen born in Latvia, is said to have had the high-tech equipment confiscated at JFK airport as she boarded a plane bound for Moscow in March.

She was detained on her return to the country over the attempted export of US munitions without a licence.

An American citizen smuggling arms from her home country to Russia....Will she be labeled as a Traitor ?

why not ? She betrayed her own country to help enemy country and that is a traitor. I guess she wouldn't be labeled as a traitor since she is a white american ????

Those content barely classify as smuggling..they are legally exportable materials from USA to many countries including Russia. How ever taking them onboard in quantity without adequate export permit would be a violation of law. Any weapon releated parts should be declared in advance to customs authority. The western made weapon accessories are higly taxed in Russia and CIS therefore a large smuggling industry exisist. That has nothing to do with being a traitor. The year is not 1981 and there is no cold war.

Russian military can make it's own night vision equipments.Most probably she was smuggling that to sell in black market,since night vision rifle scopes,high quality silenced pistols etc are much in demand in russian underworld.
