What's new

Is Pakistan Better Off Industrially (and More Diverse in Industrial Production) Compared to Bangladesh?

Apparently, late-in-the-day 'gyaan' is more important than an actual track record.

That buffoon @Bilal9 is too stupid to see that the factory he has cited is doing the body work only. They would still have to import engines and every other complex part of the machinery. And Pakistan produces iron ore locally - which BD would have to import too.

He whines that Indian goods are shoddy and pak alternatives are superior 😂😂

So, why didn’t superior pak alternatives corner the BD market when BNP/Jamat was in power???

.
did they ever used new metal ? always making things with scrap

Do you realise BD is not an iron ore producer? Metal work is not difficult work, but importing metal to then produce basic fabrications is not worth the cost or effort.

He whines that Indian goods are shoddy and pak alternatives are superior 😂😂

So, why didn’t superior pak alternatives corner the market when BNP/Jamat was in power???

It's plain market economics that he is trying to politicise.

The answer is simple - he should put his money where his mouth is and import those products.

.
How many potential businesses are there in existence? How many do you want the govt to promote to you?

There are 166m people in BD, do you think everyone is stupid not to figure out this great money making opportunity?

@bilal9 has idiotically named an industry out of the blue - zero feasibility, zero research and you want the govt to have promoted it already. Does that make sense?

If you believe this is a missed opportunity, by all means do it. Source the engineers, find the designers, design a vehicle, source the engines, source the materials, find a site, set up a manufacturing plant, promote the brand and then become rich... and then sell these cheaper than the proven Chinese or Indian equivalent.

Do you see what an idiotic point it is now?

Nah, bro these cottage industries take up to much land and are too chaotic. Would come handy if world civillizations came crashing down ( 😆) . - which it may do.

Bdesh needs to replicate as many Walton style mega factories. In sectors such as light engineering, pharma. There are many other lists.

Some one said something about home appliances. If you doing home appliances- then it shouldn't be to difficult to manufacture the wiper motor for cars e.t.c and so forth.

Bd doesn't have enough land for these millions of cottage factories, they are inefficient may be a little wasteful the list goes on. Also we need to make product we can sell on international market and international standard quality.

Have read the report that, I can't remember it... I vaguely remember it. Due bdesh energy infrastructure and it already having gas reserves- there fore leading to how bdesh built this. It means bdesh is in a very good spot for hydrogen energy and this includes producing green hydrogen energy.

Scotland has already put plans in motion and by I think 2028 plan on producing about 30 billion usd or pounds worth of renewable hydrogen.

A few other countries have started the process as well.

I am not saying hydrogen will be main source of energy - one min it's, the next min it's that. Also technological advances are being made in those sectors that give another horse a little more speed than other.

How ever renewable hydrogen will always be a significant player.

Please all study on how industrialization in Korea/Taiwan and even Japan occurred early in the last century.

I see a lot of inane comments (some profane) primarily because people have not studied these topics and pass offensive comments. All offensive and off-topic comments will be reported and will be taken care of.

Mega-industries need mega bucks to launch and to sustain. Demand is perfunctory in a small place like Bangladesh and once demand wanes, your mega buck factories are as permanent as a house of cards. Seasoned business folks will not invest in that scenario. Small investments by one person businesses are the way to go - and in large numbers.

Local production needs to be flexible to supply existing demand, which in Bangladesh case is rather small, Thanks to Hasina's open import policy from India and Indian businesses in Bangladeshes doing largely assembly jobs. This commerce minister Indian agent idiot will not support tariffs to be placed on Indian assembly parts imports. He is an agent for Indian Seths.

And to the India shills here.... try hijacking this thread and see what happens.

Those h*r*mi India-shills that call themselves "Bangladeshi" and advocate Indian imports while sitting and being bred in Bangladesh can eff-off to India. No one here in Bangladesh will support you. Not in a million years. People in this country do NOT like fake-Muslims or Bhakts espousing Hindu-Rashtra.

Pickup Indian cultural practices in India, buy houses there with Bangladeshi stolen money, spew Muslim-hate all day, pick up a nice "Sanatani" lifestyle with being big Ol' dot-heads, buy Bhakt-compatible Uttariyas, Namavali and Gerua clothing (still calling yourself Muslim and keeping a Muslim name), practice chetona-s*war-giri to your heart's content. Knock yourself out. No one is stopping you.

You are sounding more and more idiotic each day.

You say mega industries need mega bucks - so you want BD to start making metal panels on the roadside instead?! That's your idea of a Japanese economy?!

BD companies are making structural grade cement and rods - while you're worried about baby taxi panels.

And you don't seem to be able to answer a simple question. How does making panels (from imported raw material) negate the need to import every other part of the vehicle?

You think you can spew nonsense and pass unquestioned?

Indians are living in your head rent free, you should deal with that problem rather than blame everyone else.

Bro, this idiot is making up ridiculous propositions just to distract from BD successes.

He is literally arguing that hundreds of messy, roadside workshops would be better than the large multinational factories that we have.

May be back in the victoriana ages these messy workshop played a crucial role.

How ever back then mega- efficient factories of today did not exist then. Analogy back in those days the fastest cc bike 125. Today bdesh can have a 500 cc bike which one would your rather have.

Yes in very, very niche industry a small handful of cottage industries play a crucial role for highly specialised almost trade secret factories. These are mainly for military.

Once bdesh has the hydro power from the 2 upstream rivers countries, in addition that bdesh will partakes in renewable hydrogen. This will inshallal make energy very cheap and reliable, not forgetting nuclear energy.

Once you have an abundance of cheap, reliable energy. Including the labour force, all a sudden heavy-medium industry will take off. As these are very energy hungry things.

Then naturally some small sme will just pop up, to cater for these heavy-medium industries.

He is becoming unhinged by the day!

Whilst he wanks over Pak roadside workshops - actual industrialists from Pakistan are relocating their factories to Bangladesh 🤣🤣

These roadside workshops are extremely inefficient users of gas and electricity. Which are massively subsidised by pak government - partly explaining their poor finances.

As for the nonsense about, “that’s how Japan started”..

Idiot!

At that time the gap between a roadside workshop and an average factory wasn’t that big.

Now it’s huge!

Especially when you add on safety and environmental regulations.

Just imagine having these factories in densely populated BD.

It would be a catastrophe!

Btw, the idiot refuses to answer my question regarding BNP rule. Why didn’t BNP/Jamat diversify imports/exports to Pakistan?

Do you know that Walton employs 30,000 people in its one site south of Dhaka?

It will set up a new factory by 2026 that will employ 15,000 people.

To industrialise in the modern age, you need to set up factories that employ thousands of people at a time. That is the only way you get the economies of scale and revenues to grow.

Indian garment industry cannot compete with BD as it's smaller factories employing hundreds of people cannot compete with the larger BD factories employing thousands each - the difference in wages is not that great anymore.

Guy used to be decent poster but I had to put him on my ignore list as he is too pro-Pakistan and anti-Indian and BAL.

If you have large Walton style mega factories, with cheap energy and work force.

Small local sme will pop as they need each other. These factories can't alway rely on foreign import as shipping sometimes take 3-6 weeks.

Sometimes they need things in a matter of days and hrs.
