What's new

is it time that Pakistan start looking for modern jets

As all of us knows that jf 17 was never mid-high end fighter and recent improvement in block 2 shows that this project is way of track and is even struggling with integration of basic 4th generation capabilities i.e bvr. block 2 is not going to change any thing drastic from block 1 as was anticipated. hell even it wont have refueling probe till mid 2016. jf 17 is good to replace old f 7 and mirages but we do need a modern 4.5+++ jet in our inventory to sustain our qualitative edge. other wise we are just training our pilots on 80s tech

Who told you above things?

JF-17 Thunder can fire BVR weapons now...

Are you, by any chance, an indian false flagger

. .
J10s offer nothing new when compared to F-16 other then a new platform to maintain. For air dominance Pakistan should get Eurofighter Typhoon.

Not going to happen.

.
I sugget saab gripen. It can certainly cause concern for your only adversary India.

.
yeah i am:devil::chilli:

Don't bitch around, kid.

Tell me, who told you that JF-17 can't fire BVR weapons when we know for sure that it can?

So you basically started a whole thread out of your lack of any technical knowledge of the issue?

Here is a piece of information you might find interest.

As we speak, Ra'ad is being tested to be integrated to JF-17.

JF-17's current deployment is

SD-10As (2)
PL-5Es (within visual range missile) (2)
Fuel Tanks (3)
23mm canon on board

A pretty decent load for a fighter that has to go up and defend the airspace from enemies, no?

(That is normal, peace time configuration. During hostilities, fuel tanks will be replaced with more air-to-air weapons)...

So tell me, what makes you claim that JF-17 isn't a 4th generation fighter aircraft?

.
i believe Pakistan can buy a good 4th or 4.5 th generation jet but it is all taking decisions and putting money in pockets of some people..

.
These plane will cost Pakistan somewhere between 1200 to 1600 crore Pakistani rupees.

. .
it is whereever and whenever possible.

.
I can post this everywhere but let me put it here..

Often I heard PAF is less modern then... Indian Airforce has bigger number and quality... Ok. Let me put it simple. I just use Ajai Shukla's blog....

By 2019, the IAF will have 272 Sukhoi-30MKIs, yet poor maintenance and inefficient spares management ensures that just 40 per cent of these fighters are combat-ready at any given time. Effectively, the IAF has just 109 combat-ready Sukhoi-30MKIs; 272 is an illusory number.

And we talk about a fighter that is the most modern yet 80's era... Not SU35... So the Indians might consider them superior. The reality is that they are beggars when it comes to buying weapons. They pay hard cash and still they have not optimal solution. Neither have they shown that they can do it like the Chinese... I do not say Pakistan is superior but our beloved Indian arrogance is not correct either.

And they are so critical when it comes to making something... We had rimples on our Jf17... We have it on our ships... Let we look at their latest STEALTH frigate...

ANd here latest on Livefist...

>>>This was coming. And now it's official. Pincered in by a combination of pressures that would pluck a plum bit of business out of HAL's hands, the state-owned aviation manufacturer has decided to re-design and weight-optimise its Stage-II jet trainer, the HJT-36 Sitara, officially calling upon global airframers to size up the platform and hammer out a prescribe. After persisting with the line that the aircraft platform was fine, and that it was rapidly piercing through test points towards service status, the new decision to scout assistance is HAL's first admission that there's been trouble all along.

I mean, why do we have to make so much out of this is better then that? No one can make entire plane. And frankly, it is very difficult to do without decades of experience and huge industry. Nothing to be ashamed of. But the childish posts of Indians posters that they are better... Nopes. They are definitely not. We might not do everything but we do export Mushaq, K8 and hopefully JF17.

The major point I want to make is... India does not have to make it... It has cash and enough idiots that want to sell. In case of Pakistan it is the opposite. Almost no one willing to sell and no cash... So who is doing better? I rest my case.

Got my answer, I wonder how they are not capable of firing BVRs. This thread shoulf be closed as there is way too much misinformation here. Though thanks clearing out the facts for the guy who started this whole thread.

Munir,

Those pictures show terrible workmanship----what happened.

to be honest with the rapidly changing scenario in the neighbourhood, & the ever increasing air power balance in favour of India, PAF needs to look at a secure medium weight platform in large numbers , there are 76 f-16's of which only 18 are block 52 , that not enough, & this is where the j-10 b/c variant comes to play, if bought in large numbers say (6 x 18 = 108) it offers a solid medium weight platform to the force & increases the fire power of PAF from an defensive to an "defensive/offensive" capability. , plus it has a reliable supplier which as we have seen from history, is not the case with the f-16's, therefore the importance of j-10 b/c variant should be seriously considered.
just my two cents
regards
