What's new

is it time that Pakistan start looking for modern jets

You mean Pakistanis have to work if they wan't to get anywhere? That's unacceptable, we demand a freebies.
Why do I get ban strike if I make a sarcastic post?

Or even being called Indian for writing what you've said.

Forget every thing build a Jet Engine
Start with building a $100m university. So our knowledgeable youth stays in Pakistan instead of going overseas and never returning. We've massive brain drain and that is why we can't look beyond jf-17, apart from funds constraints. Meanwhile Pakistanis have become world class engineers working with boeing and airbus.

I don't think they work with embraer or bombadier, due to language issues.

I have a license to bash my countrymen that's how I get away with it. PM me, and we'll talk.

Baby steps. Engine is probably the hardest component to produce to a sufficient level.
First let's see if we can't get on board or at least have our engineers on board a Chinese project of the sort.

When Nooras and Bhuttos are on top, you can only day dream!! :D Nock Nock, Wakee wakee!!! No Money

thats mean hahahah  at entire nation! this nation is of idiots who want to be ruled by donkey level of IQ.

JF-17 is a perfect platform for PAF if upgraded properly. In fact Pakistan needs to change its mulitrole doctrine to dedicated role. So instead of having jf-17 to perform air-land-sea capabilities it would be more effective for these planes to be divided in dedicated role capability that way the duty is performed much more effectively.

I would prefer these are divided among different planes. Like F16 for air. Jf for land and air. The old planes for navy. This way the pilots are experienced with specific crafts.

Navy isn't as important as air, so give them older planes. When needing help, F16s can come to rescue.

But I think Pakistan knows it's not going to war anytime soon so these aircraft are just 'deterence.' Our only threat, where we may win or lose, is India and gov't will rather avoid war that it has heavy odds against.

No need to build new universities. universities like nust ,uet, giki are producing such engineers which are capable of these things.
we should start to build jet engines. first it should start on low level or with the cooperation of any other country. it would realy help in future of our country . and research department should be build for research purpose

As all of us knows that jf 17 was never mid-high end fighter and recent improvement in block 2 shows that this project is way of track and is even struggling with integration of basic 4th generation capabilities i.e bvr. block 2 is not going to change any thing drastic from block 1 as was anticipated. hell even it wont have refueling probe till mid 2016. jf 17 is good to replace old f 7 and mirages but we do need a modern 4.5+++ jet in our inventory to sustain our qualitative edge. other wise we are just training our pilots on 80s tech

Sir I havent read the full of what u are saying but ur first 2 lines are completely biased. It is pure 4th generation with ++ capabilities like EW and RWR so it comes under 4+ if not 4++

PAF needs a modern fighter jet & in my opinion PAF should had gone for J10B to replace the dying mirage fleet. Moat importantly PAF needs one complete air dominance fighter jet. As per the PAF they are looking for 5th Generation fighter.

J10s offer nothing new when compared to F-16 other then a new platform to maintain. For air dominance Pakistan should get Eurofighter Typhoon.

And who is going to pay the bill?? NS has good relations with KSA and he can broker a deal for financing them, but in return the price we may have to pay may be more then what we get.

GOVT of Pakistan will pay the bill if they ever bought them. Economy is bad but it won't be in bad condition forever. As of this point PAF is only interested in thunder and F-16s.

The only reason PAF is interested in those 2 platforms is that they don't have funds to go for shopping and all their modernization plans were halted due to that during previous Govt. era, did current Govt. provided the needed funds for those already approved projects?

If Pakistan had money then best option would have been to go for Gripen with TOT which would have allowed J-17s to become 4.5+ gen fighter, further it would have opened doors for JV with SAAB for their stealth project, for which they need a partner specially to finance. but all comes to money which is sucked by our corrupt politicians and their associates.

Haven't we neglected the Navy enough? We lost in Bangladesh because our navy was ill-suited to the fighting the Indians. It can prove critical to any fight with Indians. Or any enemy for that matter.

thats my point we are using outdated weapon in every sector. our politician don't know the impact of there negligence.they keep putting thing like army is consuming 70% budget of country in people minds.they are unable to get any cutting edge equipment in past years from any western country even after being a major non NATO ally and there foreign policy is so weak that India can easily influence any sale to Pakistan and they do nothing. mushi was lot better in this scenario at lest he was trying to keep army updated its like they are not even trying.:(
