I have been there last year and went out untill 3-4 in the morning, i'd say its probably not significantly less safe than other big cities in Europe and definately one of the safer megacities in the world.
You see police and law enforcement presence almost everywhere, this goes for most cities in Turkey btw, Ankara was no different.

Of course there will be places that should be avoided but show me a 15 million city that doesnt have them.

I wouldnt compare Japan to anywhere, its above 90% of all countries when its about crime and public order.
But even Tokyo has its bad places where yakuza is running his prostitution businesses.

absolute safe. Recently my colleague visited Turkey along with his family. although they were in Istanbul for 1 day. but traveling interior Turkey is safe.

It's perfectly safe. I was there last year, my family visited just a few months ago.

If someone is scared to travel out of fear of terrorism then they should just stay home forever.
