Recently a report prepared by idrw.org ( Read: United States takes lead in India’s INS Vishal ) highlighted how United states has taken lead role in helping India develop next generation 65,000-tonne Aircraft carrier ” INS Vishal ” which will be constructed in next decade to come .

United States active help for INS Vishal design only came when India agreed to buy Expensive and operationally untested Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS) developed by General Atomics.

United States in principal also agreed to help develop or Sell Electronic Warfare Suite and are in talks to further cooperation which will allow enough leverage to push for the sale of other equipment for the new aircraft carriers.

Northrop Grumman already has briefed Indian Navy on the E-2D Advanced Hawkeye aircrafts which Indian Navy plans to operate from a new aircraft carrier in near future. Indian Navy which operates Russian supplied Mig-29k fighter aircrafts from INS Vikramaditya is also already investing in the development of Naval LCA which could serve on board India’s first locally developed aircraft carrier INS Vikrant.

Indian Navy few years back had floated a Request for Information (RFI) for a newer generation of aircraft which can operate from the two indigenous aircraft carriers, and Lockheed Martin delegation responded and had briefed Indian navy few years ago on naval variants of the F-35B and C, which will be suitable aircraft carrier operations .

After MMRCA debacle, Purchase of Dassault Rafale M fighter jet from France is highly unlikely now and India should not let itself walk into F-35 trap were United States in disguise of providing help to India combat rise of Chinese Navy might push for American Fighter jets to be operated from Indian aircraft carrier .

I hope we do.
For future, India got not much in sight for countering Chinese navy air arm. Naval LCA will take time but still it will be a compliment to Migs. IN needs F35's to be on par or above what chinese can throw at us, countering numbers with quality.
I believe we can achieve 40 airforce squadrns (PAKFA + Sukhois + Rafales + LCA's). Which can then be supported by our upcoming tier 2 Air power consisting (LCAs + Migs + F35's) flying off our carriers.
Who knows our financial ability might permit us to go for another carrier in near future.

India's air force can be downed with pebbles...that's if it doesn't crash and burn on its own. That's very unfrotunate considering how much money the IAF has at its disposal.

The Indian Air Force has recorded more than 1,100 crashes since 1970, mainly due to technical defect and maintenance faults. Since 2011-2012, the Indian Air Force has lost 15 helicopters and 35 aircrafts in crashes.

Technically ill-matched Indian Air Force losing ground to PAF

Substandard management, wishful thinking and an ill-conceived acquisition policy are just some of the reasons for IAF's misgivings. By way of example, IAF should've taken the Rafale's but their insistence on ToT and guarantees for HAL-assembled products led them nowhere. The Tejas is a story in its own right.

there's no trap... IN wants this to happen.. IN already showed interests in F-35.. that's one of the reason IN chose EMALS.

Defense relations with US must be pursued with lots of caution and deliberations

I agree with most of above. Well if we were that smart, AMCA would have been in air allready.
But its never too late to start some point.

The F-35C will probably be around the same price as the Rafale M by 2019 ($90 million) due to the sheer number of F-35s being built (2500) plus the increased investment in cost reduction. Parts cost and availability will not be a problem due to the same reason. Singapore is expected to put in their order soon and Finland, Denmark are considering it vs. the Eurofighter. How is it a "Trap"

Is it on offer to India at all anymore or we just beating the bushes overhere ?

US is not going to sell EMALS without bundling in the F-35's, so that ties us up if we have to choose EMALS. With F-35 we'd have EUMA and I don't think any Indian military branch is going to accept having any other party snooping around.

IDRW is a fanboy type website.
Indian Navy is very interested in F-35C if they would go for CATOBAR carrier.
F-35B is a lemon which I don't want on our future LHDs.
