I would agree that under present circs. This would be sheer stupidity but who knows in a few hundred years, things could be very different.

If France, Germany, Italy and England could join together under the flag of the EU, whose to say that 300 years from now India and Pakistan and Bangladesh are not joined in some way...maybe a federation ?

Hi all,
I was wondering about how much seriousness there is in the Hindu/Indian political and social circles to materialize the goal of a greater India comprising Pakistan,India and Bangladesh.
Is this whole idea even considered a legitimate ideological and political goal among the masses for which they must aspire,desire,pray and strive towards or is it just an over blown ambition of an extremist few ?
What about the modern Indian mindset ? Is this idea of any importance or is it considered a whimsical ambition of a crazy people of ancient mind set ?

Yes, I have. But in the long term -say 300 years- I think religion is going to play a much smaller role than it does today. Also nationalism will probably play a much smaller role. Things change . At the end of the day, no one is going to compel anyone. Nation states might dissolve into regional federations - it's too far into the future ...

The pace of change in technology and travel.

If you look at the West today, atheists and non religious are growing at a phenomenal rate just over the last 5 years, especially among the highly educated. In more conservative religions as well, people are questioning in a way their grandparents would never have thought to do. Even super conservative countries like Saudi have a whole generation of young people including women who are educated, they are not going to settle for the life of their parents. changes will be gradual but society will fundamentally change over the next couple of generations.

Thank you jinnah for creating Pakistan, we would have never had great military if pakistan was friendly with us even we would not had much development in our country if we had lived like brothers, as there would have been no competition, jihadis and mujahedeens from afpak region would have been roaming on streets killing innocent people which was such a hinderence for development, which is what now Pakistan is facing, and who wants lungis snatching jobs from the poor, and spitting paan every where, so this was a concept from the early generations who had a nostalgia of united lands, see even advani had a nostalgia when he visited Lahore and sindh, and many muhajirs have nostaljia when they visit India but today's generations are generations apart and today's Sindhi boys in India think Pakistan as an aelien country, anyway we south Indians never had any kind of cultural or historical relations, Pakistan was an alien country before and it is alien to us now only now through net we are able to know you people, but nostalgia apart Pakistan is a sovereign country, we don't want any thing from pakistan , except for onions for money ofcourse we want nothing for free, the concept of akhand barath is a dream, but there may be a possibility of forming a union like EU in may be after 100 years till then we are neighbours, you prosper and don't meddle in our progress.
