I think they need to seel their iPod and Windows 7 PC put some more money and buy a ticket to India.
Yes there is poverty but not even like what Slumdog Millionaire has shown I don't know why US and UK media always show the hardcore poverty striken areas. Why don't they show the Microsoft's office (the only 2nd official headquarters in the world), Cisco, IBM, Deutsche Bank, Merrill Lynch, GE, Nordea, BGI, State Street, Morgan Stanley, Golman Sachs. Leave them alone..they looks like a retard! who doesn't know **** about outside world...The most expensive cars in the world are bought like peanuts in India but they fails to realize that...yes, these are bought by Indian (middle class people) by paying 101% import duty implicated by the Indian government...Can you imagine? if someone in US or europe buys a BMW 5 series beamer, the same car would cost double in India and yet, India has more BMW cars compared to the united states...Check the BMW-India sales for proof. See the big American companies like IBM, NASA and many more, In the top level management you can find a Indian. Really they are living in there own created dream world.
As long as the movie depicts reality there should be nothing to worry about. And if by some chance the director depicts something which is unreasonable, the audience is enough to judge it. With that said i would like to add that i really like Irfan Khan's acting, one of the better actors from bollywood.
And who is this audience, westerners most of them still stuck in stereotype of BD being a bunch of lungi wearing malnourished people living in 'chopperpatis'( Replace luhgi with dhoti and you will get Indian version). In the film Crossing Over BD is refered as a '3rd World Sh*t Hole' and you want a film which will be drenched in poverty from top to bottom to go before the same prejudiced audience and get applauded. Good luck with that.
Its better BD produce this movie with a Bangladeshi point of view, but again you may not get any oscar for that.
Look alike?
