Iraq--Victory or Defeat for USA ?

For me it is victory for America--
1. Saddam hussein---KILLED
That was not the objective to begin with, Saddam WMD are yet to be found and post Saddam Iraq is more dangerous, unstable and armed.

2. IRAQ Free
Unwanted freedom which came at behest of many Iraqis losing their loved ones for imperial goals..

3. A Strong pro USA country in middle east
That has got to be the biggest joke, Iraqis today hate USA more than they hated it under Saddam.

4.American army battle hardened
Really? That is why they were defeated?

I agree. They pretty much achieved what they set out for.

I think @Ephone has it right: Only time will tell. Will the Iraq war lead to a more pro-America Mid-East where oil flow is ensured and weapons are bought from America? Or will it be an Iraq where Iran dominates. An Iraq where another anti-Israel strong man comes to power? After all, Israelis and Americans (and perhaps Kuwaitis) were the only ones where more than 50% of population wanted the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
Looking at the picture right now, I think it's a mixed bag for Americans. Sure, like some Indians above playing down, the human-tragedy of Iraqis can be ignored (hey, 113,000+--not a 'million'), the morality of the invasion can be ignored. But the gains are still in question. What if the various militant factions in Iraq--both Shia and Sunnis--are biding their time to make sure
that the American combat troops are at a safe distance before the militants turn against the large residual American forces? I think that is quite possible, given the hostility of Iraqis against the American 'invaders'.

I think iranians are playing their card close to their chests I think they are the real winners in iraq.

We are now seizing them to death in Afghanistan by closing the supply routes..India one again proved to be a valuable assets to its white friends for benefits by serving their regional goals..
