Iran's New Fighter Jets Ready for Export!!! Who Might Buy?

none-export, PLAAF, radar images are very hard to find. there are more of the export radars.

but there are some things we can infer.

This is the SY-80 for the j-7, its pretty much the same visually to the KLJ-6E which itself is similar visually to the KLJ-6F
As you can see, its pretty small, because of the limitations of the radar dome for the j-7/mig-21 , one of the reason why china builts the j-8 with the intakes at the side allowing for a bigger radar.

it isnt confirmed what the KLJ-10/A looks like but there are some images

j-10B, people thought this was PESA, but later chinese published media said its ASEA. this might be the KLJ-10

Later this popped up, which is where people got the 1200 T/R count for the j-10C from, it states that this is gen 1.5 of chinese AESAs from NRIET, the middle one being gen 2 for j-16 and bottom one being gen 3 for j-20(also where people got 1800+ T/R for the j-20 from). while this radar is clearly the one on the j-10B image but we have no reason to think the j-10C would have a lesser count.

Regardless, most think this is a image of the j-10C radar which should be the KLJ-10A, it would have benefited from the development of the j-16 and j-20 radars.

of course nothing concrete, just internet rumors at best.

people were saying (i think) its similar to the JH-7A radar set (and the jh-7 does a similar job to the F-4). which is the JL-10A radar and would mean 70-80km range which was good for BVR missiles like the PL-12 or equivalent of and air to ground munitions.
this was also a pulse-Doppler radar not a ESA.


the one you showed should also be a pulse-doppler, ESA radars tend to be thick and/or have fin-like bits coming out the front.

The fighter makes use of high end sensors and avionics, and according to some analysts it may deploy the country’s lethal edge Fakour 90 long range anti aircraft missiles - an advanced derivative of the American AIM-54 which would give the fighters a longer air to air engagement range than any other combat aircraft in the Middle East.

According to General Banitarafi, Iran has already reached export agreements with China, Russia and Indonesia.

While Chinese and Russian acquisitions of Iranian fighters remains extremely unlikely, it is possible that the countries are supplying radar, avionics or missile technologies for the fighters which will be exported by Iran to third parties - much as China has done for the Pakistani JF-17 fighters.

With Indonesia modernising its air fleet with the acquisition of Su-35 air superiority fighters from Russia, the Kowsar could play a key role in expanding the country’s light fighter fleet and support existing squadrons of the F-16 Fighting Falcon.

A number of African states, possibly Sudan which formerly operated the F-5, have also been highlighted as potential future clients.

The Kowsar may also be marketed to Middle Eastern clients such as Lebanon or Syria - a less costly alternative to extra regional light fighters such as the MiG-29, J-10, F-16 and JF-17.

if it isn't BVR capable then I'm afraid getting customers would be difficult. most nations that have air worthy adversaries normally are in bvr competition. PAF and IRIAF need to join in and start a new 5th gen fighter project.

Yes, it was concluded back then that IRIAF is trying to turn the F-4E fleet (6 squadrons I think) into JH-7A with JL-10A radars.

C-803/Qader AShCM 300 km
KH-55/Soumar Land attack CM 2000-2500 km

As a Chinese person with knowledge of Chinese aviation, how do you see Iranian combat aviation preparations ... development of a BVR combat suite on Kowsar, F-4E and F-14 AM, BVR missiles etc ? We are under sanctions and IRIAF is getting minimal funds despite Iran having a military budget of close to 20 Billion USD for domestic production. Our focus is on missiles, UCAVs, Air defence and Navy. I do feel IRIAF will proper attention this year.

93 km radar range of KLJ-6F version is BVR capable. This is just a stop-gap technology demonstrator. We are learning about building a 4.0 generation fighter plan the way we learned about missiles and UCAVS and air defense before.

As countries, we can not do anything together. Saudi Arabia and its Persia Gulf and Western allies will chew your country with economic terrorism and actual terrorism, they are quite capable of both.

I see some turks and so called moslems make fun about Iran and it s achievements. It s so ridiculous that people who are considered by europeans and the west as inferior are playing with the same language. On the opposite I am from germany and the iranians are under the moslems the only appreciated people, because mostly they are educated , they adopt fast and are successful people. I would say in general they are intelligent people compared to the other moslems anyway. Honestly Turks, Pakis are not welcomed much. They are so backward and uneducated and not open minded. It just surprise me why turks always try to look superior to other people. In all regards they are behind iran. they are so dependent on the west, economically, militaristic, technolgy and so on. Look to Turkey it does not even serve it s own turkish people how can this country be successful ? The only difference was Ataturk time and his achievements are erased from turkish life and country. Turkey will even suffer hunger ! They beg for fighter jets from the US and money from the west. Their reputation is that of begglars who always want something . Former Yugoslavia produced fighter jets 50 years ago but it went into dustbin as the country did not have domestic solution for engines.
So, firts engine then all others things will fit easily.

This was started as a troll thread by an illiterate Turkish troll but turned into a good info thread.

Kowsar is one step closer towards proper 4+ generation totally domestic production (not imported parts assembly) of a local fighter jet that we can rely upon. It already has good combat capability with BVR, HMD choices, but it's just a step.

The way we went from Scuds to three staged solid IRBMs and from hand-launched RC drones to large flying wing UCAVs that enter the enemy territory without being detected tells us what is going to happen for IRIAF in the next 10-12 years.
