The prototype was spotted on Google earth a few years ago collecting dust.

I would be surprised if it isn’t this project. What always held this project back was funding and a suitable engine that can be mass produced.

It fits in Iran’s ecosystem as Iran has extensive experience with Cobras. Heavier attack (Alligator class) helicopters are costly for Iran to operate with limited upside considering Iran is basically using these in insurgent warfare.

Not difficult, after all most of Ukraines attacks on Russian territory or near border have been with helicopters. If a helicopters flies very low it is very hard for any radar to pick it up.

The issue you had with Russia is sending these choppers into contested territory flying at normal altitude with an enemy that still had SHORAD and top of the line MANPADs deployed. Recipe for disaster. Any chopper would be vulnerable unless it’s moving very fast.

Choppers (and tanks) have to be utilized properly or else losses will ensure regardless how advanced the item is.

It should also put a reality check on Iran’s need for attack helicopters considering outside of a land war they will rarely be deployed. Transport helicopters are much for strategic for Iran right now alongside military transport planes and AWACS and mini AWACS and SIGNIT planes.

True, Alligators have good defensive capabilities as well. Albiet, you still have the threat of low range low altitude SAMs that operate passively for detection. So even with mapping, the threat and risk still persist. I guess it really depends on the opponent you are dealing with and what their capabilities are.

Why do we have so many different anti armour PGMs? Seems like a logistical nightmare to have 7+ different PGMs to do the same thing.

I’m curious which ones are actually getting produced in meaningful numbers and which ones never get contracts from armed forces.
