Iranian Chill Thread

Gas consumption in Iran is so high because of super cheap prices..Here in Eastern Canada I heat my house with propane and I pay 0.85 cents per liter.
I have read that price of gas in Iran is so cheap that Iranians when they overheat their houses they do not bother to lower the thermostat...they open the windows!!!!.Iranians pay 5 cents/liter for petroleum, almost nothing for electricity and almost nothing for natural gas....All subsidized by Government..This unnatural system of subsidizing consumer is crazy...I was hoping Raisi Government will do something about that but nothing yet...not even gradual increase..crazy.

This is a photo of Greek fence along their border with Turkey...I suggest Iran to plan similar fences along our Eastern borders ...Illegal Immigration will eventually bite Iran hard if you do not do anything about it.... Mullahs of Iran are creating a slow cooking problem for Iran and can not see it..

The Iranian society is entitled by history and culture. I’m not judging but the way I see it western type of stringent fiscal policies will probably backlash. The best way to counter this is significant productivity increases. That means nuch better management and significant increase in automation. Changes in society itself is nice but not immediately practicable.

I suspect part of that is because this clown was able to "buy" himself a dual citizenship, something that iran doesnt recognize anyway,so "technically" he was [past tense :azn: ] a uk citizen.
In reality of course its simply just another part of the recent 💩propaganda war💩 against iran over its supplying of weapons to russia.
Also, I believe he is guilty since it takes alot of effort to do a counter-intel operation like that, and it wouldn't make sense to do it unless they were serious and was certain he is guilty. He was selling secrets and probably got some people killed as well like Roshan and other nuclear scientists. Or at least identified them to foreign intel, Very bad when people like this get to very high positions. No wonder things keep leaking out, theirs like a dime a dozen of these guys out there.

According to Iranian papers..he was caught spying a year or two after his first contacts with mi6 but let go promising not to continue...(my interpretation he was turned into double agent!!)..after few years of activity Iran brought him in and arrested him ..he was no longer useful..MI 6 paied him lots of $$ . The true story is probably much more complicated...but MI 6 is very upset..lol

ok cool, this is interesting to know. Wow, those petrol prices are verry cheap.

What makes it crazy? To me, i see it as a possible Iranian version of state benefits for the Iranian citizen- to be honest with you- maaany oil and commodity rich countries struggle to properly dispense benefits to citizens, from the oil/gas/mineral wealth...but in this case it seems Iranian govt has some actually effective and deliverable methods of returning benefits to Iranian citizens that is at least partly funded by the country's natural wealth or and resources. As long as its relatively efficiently done, and its not eating up the national and state budgets inapproriately or ineffectively, then its actually ok- its just different, but its still relevant and important benefits to citizens- Islamic Republic's version of socialism? Its underlying principles are socialistic a bit IMO.

well remember someone on here or so said that Gas is used for industrial activities- Germany being the case in point- after gas from Russia via Nordstream got cut off, German industrial output started to tank..recession set in after.

Iran probably has alot of industrial production and activities going on...especially considering its resistance economy which mandates it produce alot of the important and strategic things it needs, to reduce leverage from foreign countries and foreign exchange bleeding.

Understood. But culturally waste is part and parcel of the culture too. Although the word ‘waste’ and ‘haram’ are deeply interchangeable (‘وقتتو حروم نکن’ or ‘غذا حروم شد’) it hasn’t translated in a meaningful way to action.

I also agree the Iranian population is used to these enormous governmental benefits. It’s not something I would judge although I must say it is far more so than what we we see in the West. Again not judging.

To conclude, the notion of eliminating wasteful habits really should be emphasized on by both the government and religious leadership. The opportunity cost of not implementing it is enormous

Of all the places that you should be judgemental, one of them is a freaking forum.other ones are schools and universities, otherwise what's the point ? gather here and there and hold each other hands ?

Some people in some countries are having it hard ? yes but if you want to really help them, the proper response is saying something and doing something about it not putting your faith on your hopes and prays.

On issue of cheap energy it created more comfort for the wealthy compared to middle income and poor people.

Inflation in Iran is at around 40%...so lets break it down to its 8 category that drive the inflation .These 8 categories are inflation drivers as measured to calculate inflation:

  • 1- Food prices
  • 2- Shelter (housing prices or rent)
  • 3-Household operations (heating,Taxes,water costs)
  • 4-furnishings and equipment prices
  • 5-Transportation costs (Auto prices,fuel prices)
  • 6-Health and personal care costs
  • 7-Recreation costs
  • 8-Education costs
keeping in mind that "energy" is the basis of producing most of these items. Energy (petroleum,Gas,electricity) is dirt cheap in Iran and most of these 8 items are produced in Iran ..the question is why inflation is at 40%!! it makes no sense..yes there are not enough of them for now (Housings or autos) but this can not create such a high 40% inflation.

So again why inflation is at 40% in Iran..my only answer as another PDF member pointed out:

It is the declining value of Iranian currency ...and that decline only happens when you create too much "Rials" out of the thin air!...somebody is printing money in Iran ..if it is not central bank then who!

The counterpoint to inflation is production which absorbs currency. Both sides need to be addressed.

As for the price of energy, if it’s devalued (I.e cheap) then that actually contributes to inflation. No?

Thinking about this more at macro, it seems western fiscal policy is being implemented within a political-cultural system that can’t work with it.

My point is that I cannot approach these issues with western fiscal semantics and policy. Under their system this top down command economic policy is contrary. As such, given in Iran it is not carried out exactly that way, and ‘that way’ is actually pretty awful, it does not make it wrong. Ergo I can’t judge.

Iranian currency is inherently a severely inflationary asset due to policy of money printing.

People have to diversify into industry and agriculture and commodities and real estate.

You should not have a saving account EVER.
