Iranian army launches large-scale military drills in south

The reality is the Artesh will always be second to Sepah. The government once actively stunted Artesh's growth and favoured Sepah instead, and Iran's doctrine of asymmetrical warfare ensures Sepah is always given more funds. Artesh commanders can complain till they lose their voice, Sepah just has too much clout within the government.
Then what if the artesh starts doing what the sepah have been doing for decades. Start getting involved in the economy and business ventures to get extra cash for military projects and upgrades. The artesh and sepah can then compete with each other on an equal footing with new weapons and projects and the government picks the better one between the 2. Therefore actually creating competition so sepah doesn’t get lazy with new weapon designs and projects. What do you guys think of this idea? @yavar @Stryker1982 @mohsen @2800 @skyshadow @mohammad45 @raptor22 @Cthulhu @Hack-Hook @VEVAK

at best it can be called some practical joke
even U.S army uses them (commercial Chinese ones!) so please ...

when we produce scan-eagle why waste resources for this one ?
different class and weight, Yasir needs a station and launcher, Farpad is launched and controlled by a soldier on the field.

I think this will start a civil war.

Looks like the exercise is aimed at countering an amphibious attack.

for God sake even a you can buy a better drone of this size over the shelf
The roughly-four-kilogram domestically-manufactured drone can fly as far as 20 kilometers (12 miles) for 45 minutes. It is used in reconnaissance missions and is capable of either storing information or transferring data via online connection.

and USA army may use this drone but we must copy every useless niche they waste money on . this approach destroyed USSR

It’s friendly competition and unless Rohani or the next president increases the army budget, then I believe the artesh getting involved in economic and business ventures is the best possible course of action

Iran's leadership and military have stated/implied before that the only serious way to attack Iran is from the sea, so that makes sense i guess.

It has the common performance for this weight, so cut the crap.
let just say for example this one have an endurance of up to 2 hours
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AeroVironment_RQ-20_Puma

or this one with half the weight have an endurance of 1.5 hours
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AeroVironment_RQ-11_Raven

or Skylark has a range of 20-40km and up to 2hours of flight

or this from Russia had 1.5 to 2h of endurance and half the weight of farpad
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZALA_421-08

or Petryx with les than 1/6th of weight have twice as more of endurance
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pteryx_UAV

farpad was in line with others in 2005 after that not anymore

You couldn't bring even one example to back up your word, each one of these drones is inferior to Farpad in one or more aspects.

At the end of the day after the war ended and the dust settled it's been the IRGC that has proved it's self over and over again over the Air Force over the past 2 decades!

Iran's Air Defense Force's started coming up with product after product as soon as they got separated from the Air Force

Today Iran's Air Force controls all of the large Air Force bases and most of the military aircraft hangers, bunkers, training and R&D facilities but it's the IRGC that builds and operates the best UAV's in Iran that are far more advanced than any UAV the Air Force has

Fact is Iran's Air Force has failed the country! Yes there are sanctions so what? they have been there for almost 4 decades now and the Air Forces response to those sanctions has been what exactly?

J-79 & TF-30 engines are NOT modern technology they are 50's & 60's Tech

IRGC went from a force with 0 capability to produce it's own missiles to a force with one of the top 10 largest missile forces in the world within the past 3 decades while the Air Force is still scratching it's head and still hasn't been able to reverse engineer a 60's era TF-30 that they have been operating for over 4 decades now

IRGC in the span of 3 decades went from a force that operated toy RC's to a force equipped and capable of producing it's own PGM armed MALE UAV's & stealth flying wing design Jet powered UAV's while the Air Force is still scratching it's head and still hasn't managed to build PGM capability around it's fleet of F-5's

Iran's Air Force personal should stop the nagging and take good deep and long look at themselves!
And Iran's Media is to blame too since clearly they have failed to put the spotlight on the Air Force and ask why it is that despite sanctions almost every part of Iran's Military is stronger today than it was 40 years ago except for the Air Force!
