I prefer being called a mullah any day instead of being a rootless ignorant, defying islamic laws and punishments prescribed by Allah and practiced by Muhammad (PBUH) and having delusions that doing so would make me look "civilized".

Its mind boggling to see how some people can defend such a inhumane practice with such sincerity.
No wonder why Islam is such a primitive religion, meant for people with primitive thinking.
This practice of beheading, maiming and amputating need not to be done today in 21st century. It might have been relevant in 7th century.
As at that time there were no jails or prisons, so the best way to keep the criminals repeat any crime would be to disable them physically. It was a wise option to amputate them in 7th century.
Those practices that Islam and ure prophet taught were to be followed in the 7th century, but like I said since Islam is a primitive religion, the practices that it teaches can't be followed today.
Today we have active police, prisons, courts etc.. there is no need to cut off their hands or legs or throats, in order to keep them repeat their crimes. In modern countries we put these criminals in jail rather than the public display of barbarity. Afterall this is what the jails are meant for.

I mean this is what we use to cut crops etc, in rurals of India... just a biot of modification .
