What USA wants and what Iran wants will be completely different when the topic is not Afghanistan, doubt that Iran will suddenly become all friendly with USA. Just like we and USA they have our differences they too will, however Iran will not try to cut out Russian and China just for Afghanistan. It is too costly a gamble.
It all depends on Iran's diplomatic strength and its ability to negotiate.
@indushek; Arey Baba, why do you think that international relations are a "zero-sum game". The Cold War is over and gone; so theses of "if you're not with us, then you're against us" don't work any more. Iran can co-operate with USA without cutting out Russia. Just as Russia can co-operate with USA without cutting out Iran. And all three of them can work together on Afghanistan without working together anywhere else. Nowadays things are tackled on an "issue-based" approach. That is precisely what India has been doing. On some issues it works with China, while on others it works with USA. That has been India's line with Iran as well and so on. It is a multi-polar world now. Recognise it.
