TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iranian state media said Tuesday the government has launched a space tug capable of shifting satellites between orbits.

Iran says it has launched a test tug into sub-orbital space. State TV said Tuesday that the Saman space tug was built by the country’s Space Research Center and launched by the Islamic Republic's Defense Ministry.

Iran has made significant progress in satellite orbit transfer, orbit control and space waste disposal. These technologies can also be used in the military.
