Iran-Pakistan fallout over Bahrain

Diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Iran are under a cloud after the Iranian government protested recruitment of Pakistani military officials into the Bahraini police forces.

Pakistan's charge d'affairs in Tehran was summoned to Iran's foreign ministry earlier this month where deputy foreign minister Behrouz Kamalvandi conveyed his country's reservations over the 'recruitment for Bahrain's armed forces and police' in Pakistan.

He warned that if the recruitment was not stopped, it would have serious ramifications for diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Iran.

However, the Pakistan government is believed to have given blessings to the recruitment, which is being conducted through private contractors. More than a hundred retired army men are now on their way to Bahrain to serve in that country's riot police and defence forces.

Plans are also being finalised to send regular Pakistan army contingents to Saudi Arabia and possibly Bahrain, officials have said privately.

In March, Pakistan received Prince Bandar of the Saudi National Council who proposed that army contingents be sent to Saudi Arabia and Bahrain to prop up the monarchies in the two states.

This visit was followed up by a visit of the Bahrain foreign minister, Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, who confirmed that the Pakistan Army was willing to send its troops to bolster his government.

In what is being clearly seen as Sunni and Shia rivalries, Iran is annoyed with the recruitment of Sunni Muslims for Bahrain's security forces' because it blames them for crushing a mainly Shiite uprising against the rule of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in Bahrain.

Ive never seen anything like this.
You guys say that your people are hungry and in need of a job so they go and become merceneries for other countries. You don't see anything wrong with this? At the very least think about your reputation. Go to some Iraqi and other Arab forums and see what they are saying about you guys. What happened to all that Halal stuff? Was that just talk?

The people of Bahrain, both shia and sunni are asking for freedom and your country men are shooting them in the streets for $$$.
Before you make this secterian, cuz I know you guys will. Watch these videos.

"shia and sunni brothers, we will never give up our country"
"our sunni brothers guarded us while we prayed in pearl square"

Only enemies of Islam will benefit if Muslims fight with each other. I know that majority of Bahrain's population is Shia even though the rulers of Bahrain are Sunni, but Pakistan even though is Sunni Majority has the 2nd largest Shia population in the world and the founder of Pakistan himself was Shia Muslim as well as the current president of Pakistan who is Shia Muslim. So please Iran, dont think Pakistan is anti-shia because we aren't.

By the way, I think Pakistan should be neutral and not be involved in Bahrain's personal issues.

Who gave right Iran to interfere Bahrain's internal matters?
If Iran can support illegally to Bahrain oppositions against government then Bahrain government has totally rights for calling allied countries for help maintaining law & orders.
Why Iran pointing fingers on Pakistan when he itself involved covert ani-state activities in Bahrain.

Why Iran don't want to accept responsibilities of all this blood?
Why sunni & shia here? Nothing but political use.

Law & order must be maintain and if there some thing going to happen then Iran is responsible but not Pakistan.
Bahrain also could invite American army but they prefer Muslim countries so there is no need to win people by these videos over Iran's covert plannings.

Pakistan is doing nothing illegal here. We have cooperated with the Arab states on security/military matters for decades, as have other nations. The current recruitment of Pakistani citizens for Arab security forces is a continuation of the commercial and military relationship we have had with these States for decades.

These are internationally recognized and legitimate governments that the entire world does business with.

And Iran certainly has no room to be taking self righteous positions here, given its own extensive cooperation and trade with India despite India's occupation and oppression of J&K.

While i hav alot of respect for people of Iran and Ahmadinijad ... Iran's foreign policy is abject failure ... how many friends hav Iran got in her neighbours ... ? did Iran try to befriend them ? ... Saudi Arabia , China and Turkey are very central to Pakistan's foreign policy and relations . We hav a very old history of trusted and time tested relationship with these three countries AND its not because Pakistan is sunni dominated , its only because Iran choose the wrong side (we had very very close relations with Shah Iran... but later Iranian leaders sidelined our brotherly relations) and the vaccum was filled by Saudis . Its very important for our security and economy that 'status quo' remains in Saudi . Bahrain is a difficult act i admit .

This (the bolded part) I agree with. The leadership in the Kingdom of Bahrain is a brutal, brutal regime.

Saudi Arabia serves as a proxy for Western imperialist nations. And it's our relationship with this country that prevents us from having good relations with Iran. China & Turkey are loyal friends to have.

Amazing indian twist, followed by anti Pakistan coalition!

Some facts:

Govt. of Pakistan has never committed any army to Bahrain yet and their is a difference between retired and on-service official.

Now tell me who in the govt. can force any retired person to not take up any sort of legal employment in Bahrain????

We must also know, as a fact that since Bahrain's inception, its police comprise of many Pakistani origin people.

Pakistan army also have historical defense relations with Bahrain, and no one shall intimidate us.

Now some general facts:

As a fact due to small population and local life style gulf states have no choice but to hire foreign people when it deem necessary.
It include all nationalities.
Infact my advice to Bahrain govt. is to scrutinize the foreigners which have taken up residence in Bahrain since last two years.

When it comes to Pakistani army, their in service and retired personal are most seeked after due to their quality.

We shall also know the fact in all gulf states (specially Bahrian) there are more indians than Pakistanis! in Bahrain indians out number Pakistanis 100 to 10, and the Bahrain govt. as a general rule has to maintain the balance in ratio.

Last but not least, govt. of India have always conspired against Pakistani expats so this attempt is no exception.

what is the law in Bahrain? law has to be made by majority of people, then if majority is against law so there is no law any more.
country is belong to people, not to king, if king ask foreign help against people that is not legitimate request.
the main point you forget about Bahrain is "Majority" are against ruler, subsequently there is no legitimate ruler in Bahrain.
Bahrain issues is same as Egypt but some of us put his head under to snow and deny the facts.

everybody knows there is not legitimate government in Bahrain anymore since majority of people are against them.contract with one family does not provide you right to kill people there.
this is humanity not money contract

Apply your logic in Iran and stop hiring indians out of your hate to Pakistan.

I agree with u bro ... its not so easy for us either , the problem is our dear 'friend' wants our help (that friend helped us before so its imperative that we return the favour) and we should help its just unfortunate that 'that' friend of ours happens to be ur 'not so dear friend' ... u had ur chances to befriend us but u didn't while 'that' friend was always there for us ... I hope i m making myself clear . Let's hope there is no violence and it all ends peacefully ...
