Iran ends cooperation agreement with Pakistan

Story of Pakistan's existence.

Be somebody else's B**** instead of standing up for themselves.
what do you suggest then? its easy to be brave on pdf, but if you are given power to deal with pakistan's finances you will also make a rational choice.

Do what is best for our country. Take a stand. Utilize China in the UN if any sanctions are sought against us.

This deal was an amazing opportunity for us to lock in low gas rates for a very long time given Iran was desperate to make deals and bring in revenue. They were getting crushed under the sanctions imposed against them. We also had leverage with US because at the time the war in Afghanistan was still ongoing. We would also get transiting revenue for the pipeline through to India.

Instead, what did we do? We took it up the behind from the U.S. like we always do. It's unfortunate and aggravating to say the least. Now, the war in Afghanistan is over. Iran is in negotiations regarding its nuclear program and sanctions have been softened.

The pipeline would have helped our overall relations with Iran as well instead of pushing them into the hands of India like we have done now.

LOL What do u think Pakistani whole budget is billion dollars/ yr.

Pakistans budget problem cannot be solved by shoving her needs a side to please house of Saud or the Americans. Ameerul Momineen nawaz sheriff is saudies man in pakistan. Lj and other terrorist are openly allowed to operate out of Baluchistan to please the saudies.

It was a matter of time before this happened , unfortunately this shit that's governing Pakistan couldn't careless for Pakistan or her future. Slowly slowly we have no friends left.

Pakistan budget problem can be solved with proper taxation. No outside help is required ,but that would mean the elite taxing themselves and that's not going to happen any time soon.

Pakistan foreign policy is still being run from Riyadh, and it is unlikely to change any time soon. border problems or terrorist incursions are part of the same Stratagey.

1. IP Gas rates are not low nor locked for long time, Price is linked to oil prices. But yeah, it's still cheaper than LNG or oil.

2. Significant portion of Pakistan's exports are to US, Europe and GCC. So - going against West on IP is suicide because even if you somehow get away from sanctions using China, you will lose your customers.

And 3. They aren't giving you a pay-rise and we're holding out on this agreement till they do so - Kiyun sahiii kahaa ? :azn:

I do believe that's an strategic issue, adding to the recent firing at pakistani troops, shows signs of change in Iran's policy regarding Pakistan.

Sad news but American pressure would never have allowed that pipeline to function anyway.

Well, I am not of sure of that. Anyway, it was not feasible since Iran has even problem in providing her own gas needs in winters, and lacks enough production capacity. Mullahs are extremely incapable.

Add 6x bonus and few training trips into demand as well.

Sometime I feel than Iranian regime herself don't want to get ride of sanction as controlling closed society is far easier than open one. But i can be wrong.

Washington is trying to squeeze every dollar out of Iran so as to limit them in supporting their allies in the middle east. If Pakistan went ahead and finished this pipeline then it might have led to a furthering of this line too China or even India which means lots of money for Iran. That is why they pressure Pakistan and unfortunately Pakistan's economy cannot handle any sort of hit.

No, you are not wrong. Also, Almost every smart Iranian knows that mullahs prolonged Iran-Iraq war for similar purposes ;) So, it's not too far fetched to accept what you said, here.

This is going off topic but I always figured they wanted to annex Iraq fully since they had already beaten the Iraqi army out of Iran proper.

Yeah, They wanted to export their retardness(revolution) to all the world, starting Iraq. There were mullahs who were dreaming of capturing USSR, and USA  I can mention hundreds of their speeches.
But, as they say in farsi, "they finally realized that they have pissed on a hard ground"
Finally, in the end of the war, Iraq got the upper hand again, and pushed them back, and captured a couple of cities like Mehran and Dehloran in Iran. Then, mullahs understood that they would lose the war in upcoming years, hence agreed to UN resolution.

If you are implying foreign aid, well thats not the only lever US got, and then you rightly pointed out KSA has huge influence considering they saved NS.
Who will bail you out when you start defaulting on loans. Chinese never showed interest in bailing you out, other than financing big infra projects for which you need to award them the contract. Nothing wrong in that but even now, you cant replace USA and west with china.

It will take quite long time to increase tax net, and getting sufficient number of people to pay taxes. Also, am not sure personal taxes will be enough to finance the budget, you need more corporate taxes. To increase corporate tax, you need more companies to operate in pakistan. Which points to making it better investment destination. That is better said than done.
In short to medium term, your govt knows their hands are tied.

Every Mullah the world over has these wild illusions of grandeur.

Anyway back to topic you have any news of the sanctions front for Iran? I think if there was an opportunity that sanctions would be eased things would start back up on this end.
