There are some Musharraf's supporters in UAE, Europe and the United States. I think he can become minister for overseas Pakistanis but may be 0.5% supporters in Pakistan so you can expect some crowd their in the USA but may be not in Pakistan

Are those millions Pakistanis living in Dubai or middle east should be considered out cast?

Voting is a numbers game. Compared to what is needed to contest and win elections in Pakistan, he will never get those numbers from Dubai, UK, US and all over the overseas Pakistanis combined and if they all voted for him only, which is hardly the case by a long shot.

There is also a school of thought, that Musharraf is afraid to go back home - mostly its sensible since as webby mentioned it won't be simple and fair, but still his persona is that he faces challenges head on - so him staying out of Pakistan further worsens his case for re-election.

To regain his popularity he has to work in Pakistan. Nowhere else.

The present NRO product is also attributed to Musharraf ... When a leader makes so many and so disasterous mistakes he should be confined to the DUSTBIN of history ....

I agree that votings is a numbers game and in 2008 elections, President Musharraf's name got PML-Q 53 seats in the National Assembly and these seats were from all over Pakistan.

On the other hand Nawaz league got 5 seats from NWFP and rest of the seats were from Punjab.

President Musharraf's participation in politics will only benefit Pakistan because it will give another option to the people of Pakistan and will add pressure on ohters to actually do some work.

I assure you that he is going to return and it is a matter of when and not if.

You are right when you assume that he could have turned Pakistan around but reality is that turning Pakistan around is not a process of 10 yrs.

Look at the history of the EU, USA and Canada, they have achieved success after many trials and errors.

I as a supporter don't expect president Musharraf to turn around Pakistan in 10 yrs or 15 yrs rather I expect him to lay the ground work for success and the subsequent govts to utilize that infrastructure to teh benefit of Pakistan.

For example, President Musharraf gave tremendous powers to the Nazims and local bodies which resulted in betterment of many cities. This is a system which is also present in all developed nations. Now the next step should have been continution of that system by the means of local body elections but that is not happening.

So lets not blame President Mushararf for what Pakistan is facing today.
