INS Vikrant, India's First Indigenous Aircraft Carrier, To Be Handed Over To Indian Navy In May

Indian shipbuilding. still have any questions?
if they wanted, i think they would ahve gone for it although not going for it is certainly a strange choice but still they have been making ships for a while !

Classically Indian!

This is the largest and most complex warship ever to be designed and built in India. Vikrant is the first ship of the Indian Navy to be built completely using domestically-produced high grade steel, confirming Indian industry’s – and the Navy’s – burgeoning skills in shipbuilding

without burgeoning skills in shipbuilding, you will not able to make destroyers, frigates, and aircrafts careers.

In three calendar years 2019-2021, 34 months, the Vikramaditya went to sea just twice and both times it was just off the coast of India.

Has it left port yet in 2022? ;)

Follow this thread about India's sole "operational" carrier Vikramaditya! lol

Unlikely the Vikrant will be much better.

Fascinating to see a little mini-campaign by indignant Chinese members, all talking about Indian familiarity with carriers and how to handle them. That ship has sailed, if the phrase makes any sense to you. This is not the first time that India has looked at a carrier. Comparisons with the Chinese experience, including all the painful little baby steps, reflected in Chinese members laughably spiteful little posts, are a bit sad. We don't really have to go through these steps once more, not since inducting aircraft and flying them off carrier from 1960 onwards.

It's all a bit sad, really.

Now you've done it!

There go your chances of winning the chair's best post following the lead of the ever-victorious the Sun rises in the east country's foreign service posters.

No, no, NO, you loser!

Wrong picture!!

3 years in the Urumqi self-improvement group for you.

aircrafts careers
That, too.

No bouncing up and down when slowed to a crawl. Good job!

Presumably all these sapient ones from sapient shipbuilders operating aircraft carriers for the first time.

It is fascinating to see a demure young maiden taking her first steps out in the open, and fascinating to see her wide-eyed impression that the whole world is taking its first steps with her.

It is not easy to build an aircraft carrier by oneself, although it takes a long time.

INS Vikrant,Construction started in 2006,The first keel was laid in 2009,It was launched three times in 2011, 2013 and 2015, and began sea trials in 2020. It is expected to enter service in 2022.16years

China 002 Aircraft Carrier,Construction began in 2013.It was built in the shipyard in 2015, tested at sea in 2017, and commissioned in 2019.4 years of construction, 2 years of sea trials, total cost 6 years

Was meant for Mig29 and Su30, when being designed no one thought there would be a time when we would purchase fighters from West again.

Rafale M still fits, problem will be in Vicky. Problem with Rafale M is absence of 2 seater version capable to operate from aircraft carrier. That's why I think Super Hornet has better chances, plus it can fit on Vicky too.
There is an advantage to the Rhino.. the Engine is common with the LCA so if there is a N-LCA later it helps out

The Chinese Aircraft Carrier use traditional steam turbines while Vikrant uses a more modern gas turbine arrangement.
Design of Vikrant started in 1999 while the Chinese ships are rooted in 1970s Soviet technology.

The Chinese ships however are essentially Soviet designed Admiral Kuznetsov class ships. Liaoning in fact was laid down in 1985 and only sold to China, ostensibly for scrap, in 1998. She entered service in 2012. Shandong was built to the same overall design (with some modifications) and entered service in 2019.

No offense, but US aircraft carriers also use steam turbines
