Batch 2 ships are fitted with the Kashtan-M automated CIWS guns instead of the directed AK-630M.

Yeah its amazing.

Though I feel that AK-630M is more effective at a closer range.

Just wondering how come Yantar always delivers in time while their Baltic shipyard (the Gorshkov maker) is making so many delays.

Many russian yards/manufacturing plants deliver on time.. it is just that they do not come into limelight for being disciplined..

Like NPO saturn and the Sukhoi fighters.. none of them got delayed ever !! Russians do not suck in delivery as much as it has been made it out to be

well we are comparing two separate cases, Russia has immense experience in making Frigates, Destroyers, fighters etc. so no doubt they will deliver on time, but the case of INS viky is totally different where a cruiser was completely changed into an AC, many of the changes were under estimated which cost both India & Russia dearly.

Did anyone see the specs for the godavari class of india?16 SSms ?That is a LOT for a frigate.delhi class have 16 ssms.

This ship and ships of this class are perfect multi role beasts.

Surface warfare-We can take any surface ship with its 8 brahmos.
Support landings with its gun,

ASW- If submarine is near it can track and destroy with its helicopter.
If it gets too near it can kill with its torpedo and grenade launcher.

AAW-Can engage medium range targets with the competent shtil[which is based on the tor-m1 buk which proved quite deadly in the georgian war bringing down even tu-22 backfires].For close range chaffs,decoys and the combined gatling gun and missile combo of kashtan.

INS Tarkash Arrives In India

The Indian Navy's brand new Krivak-II class stealth frigate arrived off the coast of Mumbai today to join the Western fleet. The ship sailed from Russia to the UK and back via Oman. The first of the follow-on three frigates, INS Teg, was commissioned in April this year.
