What's new

INS Arihant sails out of harbour

Now you are digressing with funding issue.

It is proven fact that Steel was used in the hull, and not Titanium.

Period.

Now go and do some kuku at home.
Sleep looser.

Come with facts, and not Indian jingoism.
Read again your Post #98. You contradicting yourself here . And before calling other looser, look at yourself, you need a mirror?

Good Luck...

Something I found in ToI report..

The next SSBN, S-3 or INS Aridhaman, is also now ready for "launch" into water, while the third called S-4 is at an advanced fabrication stage in the building blocks. Simultaneously, the proposed project to build six SSNs (nuclear-powered attack submarines without ballistic missiles) at Vizag is also being finalized, as earlier reported by TOI.

S-3 has some extra compartment :dance3:

Its steel hull and not Titanium:

Larson & Toubro (L&T) built the hull for the submarine at its facility in Hazira, where in 1998, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, then DRDO chief, quietly cut the steel for the hull. The ATV (advanced technology vessel) project remains L&T’s biggest order from the defence forces for the engineering giant, which has been active in the defence sector
for years.

And S3 and S4 will have more missiles . We are planned to 6 in 7 years . . . I think after S4 we can expect even bigger nuclear boats with futuristic systems .And we will have 3 of them by 2022 . . .

12 new Submarines + 6 nuclear submarine + atleast 8 old submarines by 2022 ..... Total 26 +4 (on reserve) = 30 subs .
S1,S2,S3 &S4 are same in missiles capability.

. .
I dnt think its true, even S2 will be bigger then S1. S1 was the first attempt.
guys, S-1 is a mock up built for training purpose. S-2 is ins arihant. the specification is still a rummer, navy never release the capability of SSGN, but it is said that S-3 will be larger and more advance than S-2

\oh man since 1998 india making hull of submarine??? ..... more then 13 yrs its only making hull.....grow up man.... acknowledge india advancement ...

this project is so secret no one knows what uses where, this is only assumption and titanium came from 3 reason:-
a) Russia build subs from titanium
B) India build plane from titanium , india has exp. of titanium since 1997
C) Pictures prove of the titanium hull...

Arihant has dived below “crushing depths” | Security Wise

Even Americans dont have that faltu money to spend on Titanium hulls.
They use HY-100..

And Indians are boasting, coming with crap, without realizing what is Titanium and its relative tough forging strength..

Morons..

you are nuts, US make only single hull subs while Russia make double hull subs , now ask stupids americans why not they make double hull subs are more advance,

every country has its own merit n demerit.

stupid u dont understand india forge titaniums for plane su30 then why can't for sub? stupid and that.???

Will the Indian media stop giving a live commentary on INS Arihant's sea trails - they are in a way compromising national security I suppose. This all has to be done quietly! :coffee:

The goal is to be transparent and not the other way around when it comes to new military hardware being tested. This of course does not mean you put out the blue prints.

One just has to look at the U.S. and how we are transparent on new weapons entering the theater, like with our new laser weapons, UVAC, F 35 etc.

Why do we do it?

Two fold- One to let the adversaries know about our new military advancements - to work it as a deterrence, and second is to remove any doubts of any ongoing nefarious intent.

This is also why the U.S always asks China that they be transparent in terms of their military build up and acquisitions- else risk a misunderstanding of intentions

Oye Moron, learn the shipbuilding step by step:

First of all and everything, the "Keel is laid" and plate cutting for the hull starts; Something also happened against ATV, at that time there was no INS Arihant name given, due to surrounding secrecy of the project.

this project is so secret no one knows what uses where, this is only assumption and titanium came from 3 reason:-

It only proves you have no hard facts and only boxing in the air!
You are fighting your battle only armed with assumptions?
Assumption is mother of all the mess-ups Lol

Just as your dialogue has demerit in the following form:

Despite the obvious, that is:

After the following discovery, there should be no ifs and butts:

Larson & Toubro (L&T) built the hull for the submarine at its facility in Hazira, where in 1998, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, then DRDO chief, quietly cut the steel for the hull. Some hard facts on Titanium hull submarines, against those Indians (moron members only), who still vouch for the INS Arihant's hull to be that of Titanium:

No country in the world makes Titanium hulled nuclear submarines now - Russia included.
Soviet Union did build 6 Titanium hulled submarines - But that was Soviet Union.

Russian submarines used 2000 Tonnes of Titanium.
Titanium alloy at 300 USD a Kg translates to 600 million USD price difference.

Since steel is 10 times cheaper, India went for it (HY-80).
India could not have squandered half a billion dollars on TU hull - which translates to nearly 5 Rafale free for India.

Russia has the monopoly on Titanium hot forging, a devilish task to handle with specialized equipment not found in the USA - India is a baby on this account.

While it takes some baby steps to handle/cut steel plates - TU handling requires uncommon heavy jigs, along with forging experience with several PhDs in metallurgy.

Please note that the first TU hull submarine was immediately decommissioned after cracks developed in the hull.

Some stupid Indians think its a piece of cake to make TU hulls.
It requires special technology and one of a kind assembly which L&T does not have, even the US does not have. Only Russians are privy to it. And they would not part away with such exclusive technology to anyone, as they are minting money on Aerospace parts exclusively supplied to Boeing via long term contract.

TU parts are normally used in Aerospace widely than water crafts.

In ship hull construction, welding is the greatest cost driver and largest single shipyard
labor factor. Ship structural fabrication, including materials, welding, and
nondestructive evaluation (NDE), can constitute 20% of the total shipbuilding cost. The
welding department in a shipyard employs twice the labor force of any other single trade.

.
Titanium Alloys are selected for applications requiring high strength, low weight, high operating
temperature or high corrosion resistance. Specific strength is high compared with steel. Densities are
approximately 55% those of steel and 60% greater than aluminum alloys. The properties and cost of
titanium alloys make them the choice in applications where a premium can be justified for high performance,
such as aerospace, chemical processing and prosthetic devices.
