The state of Pakistani basketball is quite pathetic. No players even make it to the NBA G League. There needs to be seriously done by the government. Pakistani people are least athletics nation in the world. Even in cricket, we are not a top nation. Even poor Africa has millions of players, so much, you can fill every roster in every team of any sport in the world.
Its completely bureaucracy and laws fault. There is a lot of talent but zero resources. Sadly, only Pakistani basketball player I can think of is a comedian who is mediocre at the sport. You probably seen this dude already. Comes from America, of course. That's the only way we're gonna see a Pakistani in the NBA, if they grew up in America or any other country with a reputable basketball resources.
LOL that Pakistani is funny, just look on how he is desperately wanting to play among the African American players there
Yup, facilities is important, at least there should be one basketball field in every schools and there should be competition ranging from junior high school, high school, university, and professional leagues, and even in the professional leagues there should be at least two divisions.
Indonesian try to do that despite we are lacking government support. Indonesian basketball get good financing from business community and the professional club owners who are mostly rich persons. Only football that has huge financial support from both central and local government, something that basketball community is still dreaming of.
Indonesia has started its junor and senior high school competition called DBL around 2008 and it is initiated by a private business under Jawa Post media conglomerate. DBL becomes a separate company and Today it has quite range of basketball competition from junior and senior high school across Indonesia.
Just around 5 years ago, IMO, the DBL basketball competition start to grow bigger and even reach Papuan province. And since 2018, pretty much all of Indonesian national team players under 18 were playing in DBL competition. So it is why I am quite optimistic for Indonesian future basketball team and we can see that the junior competition has shown some result to create tallen as current senior Indonesian basketball team has 2 players who are still studying in high school and two players who are still studying in university.
Despite so, some good national players start retiring when they reach 30 years old like our previous center, Sitepu, because the salaries of professional basketball players in Indonesia are not adequate to secure their retirement ages period, unless they become coach in our basketball professional leagues.
DBL founder, Azrul Anan, who is actually the son of Jawa Post media conglomerate owner.

Pakistan indeed has good advantage to be competitive in basketball competition at least in Asia level. We can see that Pakistan men average height is higher than both India and Indonesia. India wich I believe rely mostly the talent from Punjabi region (although they only have 30 million population in that region) is quite competitive in Asia level. We can see how their player height and skills are not less than Arab players.
You can see Pakistan has better men average height compared to India. And with around 200 million people this country have, I believe it will be not difficult to find talents, particularly if Pakistan has regular competition since high school and also has basketball professional league.
The average height of a population can inform us about the nutrition and living conditions of populations in the past for which we have little other data.
