As an Archipelago, Indonesia's Navy must grow in size. A nation of over 13,000 islands, and with a coastline of over 54,000 kilometers, it must increase its naval fleet force. The current developments is proceeding as planned, and Indonesia needs more Frigates such as the Sigma Class. It should have at least 8 Sigma class frigates, it should increase the number of Bung Tomo Class corvettes from 3 to 10. It should increase the number of Diponegoro Class corvettes from 4 to 10. Later on, I see Indonesia fielding a squadron of Destroyers such as the Akizuki Class GM Destroyer , or the Takanami Class GM Destroyer or the Atago Class GM Destroyer.
Well, only if you think it is about quantity...Well Indonesia to have World Class Navy they need to have at least 40 Frigates and Destroyers and at least 16 Submarines along with 40 more FAC and lots of Fighter Jets to back there Navy and Navy can be in great danger if there is no really strong Air Force and also Army to back it up so work has to be done on all three Armed Forces. Japan can be good example to follow but they have lot more area than Japan so they need much bigger Army

Indonesia should strive for a world class navy, given that it is an island nation.
I think tht is a problem shared by many navies. You have to turn serving into something desireable, irrespective of pay. AND lobby for better pay, of course.to get the best talent, eligible and in adequate number of manpower is an issue though, our Navy can't compete fairly with Civilian industry to attract the best talent out here. It is very rarely to see a college graduates with specific skills want to joint the Navy voluntarily, given unattractive incentive.
