Only missing is a 'desi khamba' in the middle.

Indian children are going hungry today because in times past we did not spend enough time and money on our defence. Had we done that the story would have been very different today.

India was at 63rd position in the global hunger index (GHI) last year. The 55th position in 2014 is better than Pakistan (ranked 57) and Bangladesh (57), but trails behind Nepal (44) and Sri Lanka (39).

"Progress in dealing with underweight helped India's 2014 GHI score fall to 17.8 points. India now ranks 55th out of 76 countries, before Bangladesh and Pakistan, but still trails behind neighbouring Nepal and Sri Lanka," the GHI report said.

You are quoting self-made bogus data.

Please cut your crap Lungi! You guys are good for nothing, you are living on our mercy! The day we decide to stop the flow of water from the Farakka barrage Bangladesh will turn into a desert. So before criticizing India always remember the fact that your entire country is on our mercy:coffee:!!

Based on your reply i can already see that you don't know much about defense needs of a country. Though some of your statements don't make much sense yet i will take them at face value and reply....please think about it and answer....

Kargil happened when we had nuclear weapons ...Parliament attack and post forces deployment also happened when we had nuclear weapons...China's incursions in Ladakh and other regions are on all the time when we had nuclear weapons...USA and USSR were mighty enemies and a threat of war was always there...even though they had nuclear weapons which can wipe out earth may be 10 times....so in short..."NO"....Nuclear weapons may give you an insurance that you will not be run down by the enemy without them getting an unbearable response, however a) It cannot guarantee a no conflict zone for good b) certainly can't do jack in a limited conflict.
Thus more than a decent conventional firepower is need of the hour...Also this deal is for replacing the existing machines that we had...if not this then what should we do when our existing feet retires?? Make more nukes??

and they will continue this forever? what will happen when they will say we have sucked enough blood of our own people(or economic development as they call it) and decide now it is time to suck some India blood?? What will you do then?? because as of now conventionally or non-conventionally we are no where near them...

They have attacked us many times...we have fought 4 wars with them and were conventionally better than them all the time with latest being 15 years ago..so not sure what is making you this confident...

and help me with the amount of money already being spent on them?? The issue is not about money, however corruption which leaks the money...and the way we have designed our means to eradicate poverty i.e. freebies instead of economic liberalization by means of jobs and skill development...socialist schemes concentrating on freebies can't do jack about poverty reduction....we have tasted the failure and world has tasted the failure as well...Not sure how on this earth country's that champion socialism are the one's housing maximum poors on this planet!!
The nuclear weapon was for preventing a full scale war 2 front war with china with a mind of enslavement, not the pakistani examples you quoted. We are capable of dealing with a short war war with both the aforeshore mentioned countries, and even that is a probability.

And your entire post is riddled with 'ifs' and 'buts' and scenarios of probability, and whose probability wont even matter a thing if you replace these costly aircraft with a cheaper MiG-29 or whatever aircraft, while we are dealing with real and sure-shot people dying here because of poor food and medical infrastructure each and every moment.

It's funny dealing with people behind laptops and smartphones with a burger or a coke beside them happily munching away without a care in the world, and talking about their hobbies, while people are dying each day because this country is too busy spending 1/5 of what it earns on overpriced shyt from developed countries.

What matters is military expenditures as % of GDP:

India spends 2.4%, compare to 3.8% for US and 4.2% for Russia and 3.5% for Pakistan.

Military expenditure (% of GDP) | Data | Table
Then why not calculate everything to a percentage of GDP. Even calculate healthcare and social security as a % of GDP.
Very clever masking expenditure of costly military hardware as GDP while ignoring the budget from where the actual money to pay the stupid toys comes from. GDP doesnt pay for the toys, union budget does!!

In reality the actual defense budget of India is barely 1.8% of our GDP.Now if we consider all the internal security related expenses(we have nearly a million strong Central Armed Police Forces which is under the command of Ministry of Home Affairs/The Interior Ministry) plus the expenses related to the Strategic Forces Command and Atomic energy Commission then the expenses add up to 2.4% of the GDP which is still a meagre amount considering the fact that we have got two hostile nuclear armed neighbors:coffee:.

Health care and other expenses are also calculated in terms of GDP, just check world bank data base (could have posted the link here but due to low post count can't), others also calculate in terms of GDP namely cia factbook, economic times, ect. Btw, India's health expenditure is about 6% of total GDP.
You can have your utopia only when all the countries stop acquiring weapons.
And as for your claim that GoI spends 1/5 of the total union budget on defense. It might be true as it happen to stand at 14.9% of total union budget 2015, but you also have to note that it was bound to happen as greater part of the centre’s gross tax revenue in 2015-16 would be devolved to states as part of the implementation of 14th Finance Commission report, which had recommended that the states’ share in the divisible pool of Union taxes be increased by 10 percentage points to 42 per cent. Consequently, the central government is left with proportionately lesser resources. Subsequent where the central government will be spending less in the some areas where the state's spending will increase in that. And as defense is an exclusive domain of the federal government it gets more share, does that mean it is ignoring its poor, definitely NOT.
Eliminating poverty and National Security should go hand in hand.
If you want to know about India's defense expenditure in detail just read "India’s Defence Budget 2015-16" by IDSA.
