When we criticize our weapon , we have best in the world as the benchmark. Even Mighty MKI and system like smearch were criticized by CAG. We have learned to walk and run and we are in a race. We do not claim ourselves to be the running champion when we are unable to walk or somebody else walk for us. I hope you understand the meaning.

Lets spell out the basic problem with the LCA it was developed in 80s as a indigenous replacement for the mig 21

Target date 1994

DODO missed the target date so the longer the project went on the more unacceptable it was for the indian airforce to induct a plane they originally wanted in the early 90s

So the airforce inevitability had to increase its requirements because would you induct a plane NOW with the tech requirements you had in 1994


So the Saga went on with DODO repeatedly missing target dates, incorporating mostly foreign parts and technology and the price of the plane ballooning


The indian airforce long ago ditched this plane it was and is political pressure that keeps the development going

It is now overpriced where the airforce feels whats the point of inducting this lemon when for 10-15 million more they could buy a alternative

Its needlessly falls between plane types

Its mostly foreign technology and parts

The list is endless

The onlyvthing keeping this project going us EGO

What they wanted was JF17 what they got however was LCA

well you had targets that CAG defined and they were missed.
the targets that were defined for thunder in 1995 and 2002 were never missed but exceeded.
it doesnt matter whether thunder is inferior to LCA or not. it is simply a fact that LCA failed because it missed its predefined targets.
May be LCA is superior to thunder may be not, but thats not the point

Pakistani posters here (Bar a few learned ) are BIGOTS of the first grade period. Just before you start hurling abuses at me, remember that these posters where up in arms mocking CAG, calling it paid news and what not when they released this: CAG blames Army for delay in Arjun tanks’ induction

But when they criticize LCA, CAG became an epitome of truth.

So, If you guys wanna criticize any Indian development (Which many consider their birth right) then you are free to do so. But if you are trying to vindicate your views by CAG then remember it also said Arjun is better than T-90. Also many members here are criticizing it just becoz they have to !! they have like a voice inside them telling "If it is out of India, then you will have to say something bad to it". Its ok to have an opinion (Like JF-17 is Junk Fighter of the 17th order) but quantify it with evidence (Like how JF-17 cannot drop and guide LDPs. Also the fact that it is a JV, not self developed. Plus very little composites. And a FBW a bit inferior to LCA). Also you guys did not do any research on (or a little research relative to what China initially did or what India did for LCA) JF-17. You just have the aircraft and the knowledge to maintain it, on a stretch, update it (But why are you guys "waiting" for BLK III from China ?? Why can't you produce them like your "Aatmi bums" ). Where as we are creating an environment for future to bank on.

As they said in a story, two men where given axe and asked to cut down a forest. The first man started hacking down the trees but other sat there and honed his axe. The second guy new the first would lead initially but when his axe is sharp enough he can cover ground at better rate. India took the second approach. Nothing is perfect with us, so the politicians craving for bribes drowned LCA, so technocrats with no to little knowledge about aviation took more time than intended, similarly the non existent infrastructure and industrial base also dinn help speed the project. Things are changing now, changing for good. We are getting our mistakes rectified and failures analysed.

But can we say the same for Pakistan ?? Did it have any failures ? Did it had any learning curve associated with JF-17 ?? I guess there will be but to what extent ?? Can it cash it's experiences and come out with it's own jet ?? May be it's own 4.5 or 5th gen jet ??

And I am sorry for calling you guys bigots, but I needed your attention. And anger can lure it to read the entire thing.

MoD is Planning to Acquire over 200 LCA in Future Because it has Scope to be Potential Support Aircraft of IAF with further Development

no need to bring in thunder..point is CAG report is regarding the mark 1, mark 2 is still on paper/prototype , a report can only come when mark 2 is ready by december 2018.

so if you dont deny that mark 1 has the said problems than whats the fuss??


remember the report is about the past not the about the future, LCA might still become one of the best fighters of IAF but till now i.e mark 1) its a failure per its requirements

that's the problem when you know half about something and shout it loud to the word only to get embarrassed later. JFT was from the initial phase designed in blocks of 50, with incremental improvements to incorporated as the technology is improved/ mature. you DONT know what technologies were Incorporated into it bar the ones you know courtesy the mighty internet.

Even the first batch aircraft are being upgraded with blk 2 features, the first sensor that received such up gradation was the radar, the klj-v2 is already equipped on many blk 1 planes, so does the new EW system. While the datalink is being upgraded. The only time it had an issue with the sd-10 missile was back in 2010 and that too was sorted out by june 2011.

Now bring the LCA development route and compare the two. i mean, show me one example of an aircraft that is now in the mk.2 version beign promoted to the airforce i.e. the priamry customer when the mk.1 failed to impress them .This happens only in India and you guys are making a mockery of your own industry by putting fancy terms and mark designations to your "being developed" projects.

Here we have a project with 50+ major deficiencies and yet all hail tejas !

In essence, in your strive to impress the airforce with a brnd spanking MARK 2 TEJAS, you forget you are bringing a horrendous reputation to you brand, industry and eventually your country.

What are these Problems?

We could not complete Kaveri, We took some part of Radar from Other country, Some part of HUD sourced from Others. Now tell me whether any of above hinders the performance of Tejas? So before jumping from joy, read the content.
