India’s manned space mission, not in near future … or never?

This thread is not about prove any point, it is about discussing the original article. My question is about the astronauts selection, which based on the article, "is nowhere close to starting its astronaut selection and training exercise". The thread has been hijacked since every beginning with a personal attack from your fellow Indian member.
as is the norm astronauts are selected from airforce and we had already send one in space by russian rocket way back in 1980s + have people like sunita williams to help us owt when we need Kalpana chawla lost her life in one mishap so dont worry we have fairly large pool to select from but personally am not in favour of sending men in space but im not important

You sure as hell are not important.

What is the use of bringing people like Sunita Williams in here?

She is an American, and cannot help until the American Government allows her. And if the American Government is ready, then in won't matter that Sunita Williams even existed, because we will get the help anyway.

All your arguments are totally wrong.

The astronaut that was sent to space with the Russians, trained with the Russians, in Russia.

According the article, the budget for the manned space mission did not make it to the 12th plan, and the land of the astronauts training facility has yet to be secured. Do you guys honestly believe the manned space flight would happen in 2021 as everyone seems to be confident about?

As far as I know, a training center has already been formed in Bangalore, and the 200 IAF pilots were to be selected for the program. I don't know if they were selected or not.

Sir a simple question do your nation even has a space program of its own ? has your nation even invented a sounding rocket or a SLV OK forget SLV when was the last time someone made a motorcycle engine or say diesel engine for farm use as yours is a agro industry based economy ?

Did your nation invented it ?

inventing in this context means development

given enough resources and having the priority even Somalia can develop it, "Rocket Science" is just a phrase from old days when only few people in few countries had this know how

given enough resources and having the priority even Somalia can develop it

Its not simply about resources, anyway since when did 'Somalia' have enough educated manpower to conduct a project as complex as development of an SLV ?

"Rocket Science" is just a phrase from old days when only few people in few countries had this know how

Even today,a few countries retain the know-how of such advanced technologies.Shall I remind of US sabotage of Indo Russian cryogenic engine deal ?

Here is what was said from your link, an article published in 2011:

"IAF has entered into an MoU with the ISRO for long term space research. ISRO has supplied it with lot of equipments and the provisional time for first selection is 2020 and the original thing is likely to take place much later," Kakria told reporters here.

For India's manned space mission to happen in 2021, which you seem to be confident, India needs to address at least following issues way ahead of 2021: Budget, GSLV-MK3, Astronauts Training Facility, no to mention astronauts selection and subsequent training, multiply unmanned experimental flights.

If all of these are still in doubt, why ISRO people came up with the target of manned flight in 2015 in the first place?

Has India decided to give up training of its own astronauts and turn to NASA for help? In a way, India is lucky to always have NASA to rely on. China had to go through all the hurdles and trained their first batch astronauts for 5 years before the first manned flight in 2003.

What a wonderful logic?

The cryogenic engine's IPR is hold by the Ukraine, given to India, and now India testing this in Russia?

Further, Ukraine doing open violation of MTCR & NPT.
Are you living on Mars?

On June 2, 2005, India and Ukraine signed theFramework Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of India on Cooperation in the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, which would enter in force on February 15, 2006.[2] This framework was strictly for peaceful applications and specifically specified full compliance with international export control regimes. In particular, with the Missile Technology Control Regime as India should provide the Ukraine all assurances that any technology transfer would only be used for peaceful purposes. Article 3 of the Framework agreement specifies, among other topics, cooperation on the sphere of production of space transport systems and conducting special scientific researches for assembling, producing, launching, operating and using the launch vehicles, satellites and other space systems.[3]

On November 2006, within said Framework, a contract was signed for Ukraine to develop aliquidstaged combustionrocket engine usingkerosene and liquid oxygen as propellant forISRO. The terms of the contract were the transfer of blue prints, since the designer,Yuzhnoye Design Office lacked the manufacturing capabilities to actually build such an engine. But no engineering analysis methods nor software would be part of the transfer. And it also stated further restrictions on the contract:only ISRO would be the importer and end user; the engine could only be used for peaceful purposes; it could not be copied, modified, upgraded, re-exporter nor transferred to a third party without the permission of Yuzhnoye and the export control authorities of Ukraine; and the use for military applications was strictly forbidden.

Read the last statement. India need Ukraine approval if you make any modifications.

No,that's basically wrong.ISRO and Yuzhnoye did collaborate, and Yuzhnoye did transferred technology for certain components and materials.but essentially it is an Indian engine developed by LPSC.Something similar as in case of CE 7.5 where we received 'models' of Russian cryogenic engine with no engineering explanations.Refer ISRO annual reports where they have reported the development of each component.

Or else it wouldn't take 8-9 years for this to get to the test stand.

In a conversation after the meeting, Varyanychko specified that the contract was for delivery of blueprints for the rocket engine that ISRO would use to build its own engine; Ukrainian companies simply did not have the capability actually to construct the engine themselves. He stressed that the information would allow ISRO to build only one model of engine and reiterated the point that Yuzhnoye would not provide any engineering or technical details on how the plans had been developed.

So basically,This is anIndian engine,based on RD-810

no but we made owr own version by using owr own engineers and infrastructure sure with help from developed nations instead of just being a client state for them and thanks to all that hard work we at least have a respectable industrial base to take it to next level instead of boasting on other nations achievements and making fun of those who were once at owr level and now are beyond owr reach that is the difference between a hard worker and a looser

Wow, wikipedia is the source.

BTW, if design, testing parameters & metallurgy already provided, then why it need to test the engine again?

Ask the MeA, they hold the Indian passport or American.

So even if India does put a man into space eventually, it will be because of NASA. India can't do anything without NASA. ISRO is a joke.
