Yes but your most used anti-tank weapon is the Carl Gustav M2.
Which are being replaced by M3s just like PA which is phasing out the M1s but are still using it if not predominantly along side the outdated RPG7s as your recoilless rifles.
You only have 300 Spike ATGM,
And?
With 8000 missiles on order this is just the initial order, and requirement wise it will eventually increase like it always has.
If Nag turns out to be better only then will we not need the Spikes
PA has no 3rd gen missiles at all.
the version of Milan your using was produced in 1972-1980,
India also licence produces the advanced Milan 2T and eventually when the latest Milan ER reaches production some time from now that too will be used.
Konkurs are from 1972 and are used by poor third world countries who lack the budget,
What does that have to do with anything? I realise your pathological need to hate on Indian weaponry but make sure you get your facts straight so that you don't look like a fool, but too late right.
BGM-71s are used by poor 3rd world countries too including Pakistan, are older than the Konkurs and are from 1963.
Turkey and Russia both use Konkurs, so much for your poor country theory.
Konkurs being a 2nd gen SACLOS like the BGM-71, its latest version the Konkurs-M is as good as the BGM-71Cs and higher, which both India and Russia are buying.
Svir is a couple dozen years behind the Baktar Shikan,
Get your facts straight, Baktar Shikan is nothing more than the Chinese HJ-8 which is in fact much older than the Svir.
and our BGM-71's TOW is not outdated and is one of the most popular anti-tank weapon among Europe and is still being purchased by them.
Being a 2nd gen wire guided SACLOS, it is outdated, more countries are slowly opting for the 3rd gen and fire and forget missile like Javelin, Spike, Lahat and Pars, and Pakistan has none of it.
India uses both the Lahat and the Spike and through next year Nag which too is 3rd gen ATGM will enter production.
Baktar Shikan is 2nd generation? Sir please compare specs with your "nag". The latest Nag has 230 speed and 4km range; our 2000 year version had 220 speed and and also 4km range, it just comes to prove we are a decade ahead; current version of Baktar Shikan has probably around 320 speed and 6km range.
Do refresh your facts, most wire guided SACLOS missiles are second gen ATGMs as compared to optically controlled fire and forget missiles. So yes, Baktar Shikan(HJ-8) is a 2nd gen missile which itself is a reversed engineered copy of the BGM-71s.
You can think whatever you want to but do provide a link that shows Baktar Shikan having 320m/s speed and 6km range, even though that hardly has any relevance to it being a 3rd gen.
LOL, again refresh your facts, speed and range has little to do with being 3rd generation missile.
By that standard your 1990s era Baktar Shikan is equal to the Javelin or the Chinese HJ-12.
A 3rd gen ATGM gives the soldier the ability to shoot and scoot far better than the previous generation ATGMs like the Baktar Shikan. The soldier can move immediately after firing the 3rd gen ATGM whereas a soldier using a 2nd gen ATGM has to continuously train his homing device on the tank until it hits.
Missiles like Javelin, Spike and Nag have the top attack ability wherein the missiles rise to attack from above the tank where the armor is not as advanced as from the sides.
3rd gen missiles have shaped charges which are designed specifically to take out the ERA and then the main charge destroys the primary armor.
So no, Baktar Shikan(HJ-8) is nowhere near a 3rd gen missile, and even though I usually don't go by the looks, the Baktar Shikan looks nothing like a 3rd gen missile. Sorry but its true
