India‘s share of the truck market will be down to 20% or less in 3 years，and that's because the SL government wants to have a market that is healthily competitive among a few makers。

The likes of Foton，of which there are dozens in China and more on a smaller scale，can eat the likes of Tata for lunch should they decide to dominate the SL market。

In 2001, Dong Fang supplied 69 substandard locomotives to Pakistan Railways in a sale that was viewed as a disaster for the country's railways system, with the machines' weight proving excessive for the existing rail network, and cracks in engines and consistent maintenance requirements proving a heavy burden for the buyer.

Chinese locomotives are not used elsewhere in the world due to their inefficient energy consumption and high maintenance costs and critics claim corruption in Pakistan Railways led to the latest contract for 75 locomotives. Last year, Pakistan had refused to finalize the locomotive deal. Analysts say the engines will be cheaper only at the time of purchase, but their lifetime cost will be much higher than those of international quality

KiwiRail could end up like Malaysian Railways with its new Chinese-made locomotives mothballed because faults can't be fixed, Labour says.

The party revealed on Monday that production of the second batch of locomotives ordered by KiwiRail was on hold as the manufacturer tries to sort out faults in those already delivered.

It has documents which list 20 problems experienced since the locomotives started coming into service over the last two years.

MP Clare Curran is now saying the procurement programme is a disaster.

The blacklisting of this Chinese company in the 75 railway engines case has actually become one of the most disputed issues between Pakistan and China and the recent visit of PM Nawaz Sharif also had to face some Chinese concerns on this issue.

Six locomotives bought by the Tanzania Zambia Railway Corporation (Tazara) through a $24 million loan from China are said to have failed several trial runs.

The locomotives were supposed to boost the corporation’s operations by increasing the tonnage hauled along the 1,860 kilometre stretch between Dar es Salaam and New Kapiri Mposhi in Zambia.

Well, that only time will tell for India's Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW), besides the Indian Railways, it regularly exports diesel-electric locomotives and has supplied locomotives to other countries such as Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Mali, Senegal, Sudan Tanzania, Angola, and Vietnam[/B] and also to a few users within India, such as ports, large power and steel plants and private railways and with Bombardier Transportation winning an order from the Government of South Australia in March 2011 for supply and maintenance of 25kV electric trains to be delivered as three-car sets, Vadodara bogies will run electric trains in Australia...

Maybe you need to make a trip out west to know how Indian products have made their mark in those markets, and we've only just begun. The chaptas introduced their products to the west before India ever did; got laughed at (as did some of ours), and eventually shoo'd out the door like malaria carrying mosquitos. Of course, both the Indians and the chaptas are getting better at their game as time goes by, and healthy competition is a good thing.
